Job description from 4 years ago has radically changed. We had a manageable number of students, flexibility, & functioning curriculum. Now? We are expected to take on **************** Instruction and/or Enhanced Virtual Learning outside of our credentialed areas. HS AP teachers being threatened with their jobs if they dont take on k / 1st grade classes. Capacity reports. They have some magical formula where they calculate our live classes, intervention classes, teacher expectations, grading time and number of students in the different platforms. If you go over capacity, ie over 43 hours, you may get paid an additional $25/hr. They refuse to provide us with how these are calculated. Our report hours are grossly off from what we actually work. I know of 3 teachers in my subject who are almost working time & a half and not getting fairly paid. There are other teachers who literally do the bare minimum - just log in and grade - and are getting paid just slightly less. The flexibility? Gone. There is no flexibility other than instead of a school building, youre attached to your home office. They purchased APEX last year. I never had any issues using that nor did students. Now they are making schools take a version of it they converted into their Courseware system. Students dont know what to submit, the guidelines are poor, there are too many glitches to count. Its that bad. There is no support from your department chair. They cut the number of regional directors from 7 to 2. Try getting a meeting with any of these people or a response to messages. You cant. For a company that claims to be educator first, every meeting, including town halls, focus on the sales team. One of them even told a state school that the guy should work on bringing a school that doesnt work with us. In front of 100s of teachers and staff watching. ***** also gets bonus family trips while they barely pay teachers with masters and doctorates $50k a year.
