Date of contract 7/2/2023 Poor work quality on roof repair and chimney flashing. Chimney flashing was to be removed and replaced per our insurance company. They did not do this they went over the original flashing. This resulted in a leak on the second attempt fix the flashing staining the finished sheet rock ceiling in our garage. The manger never address this and did not offer to fix the ceiling. A third flashing repair was made it was done very poorly. Two additional cuts into the masonry that were not sealed and would take in water. Result of this we hired our own contractor to remove and repair the chimney properly at our expense. Our chimney bricks has been compromised do to all of the extra cuts in the brick and therefore and therefore a tall flashing has to be used to cover up their mistakes. When the roof was completed from the ground we noticed loose nails under the shingles in three areas. This is a two story home so this is very small portion that we could see from the ground. It was brought to the attention of the sales agent, they removed the loose nails and when asked to inspect the rest of the roof they said it looked fine, it appeared to us they did not look well at all. Beginning in September of 2023 we have repeatedly asked for final billing on the roof and there has been no response. Due to the poor workmanship quality and physical damages to our property and lack of communication, we feel the siding portion of the contract should be void. We expect to receive a final billing detailing materials and final cost of the roof.

The chimney was compromised from the original install which we were informed when we had 2nd generation chimney who is A+ rated and one of the top chimney companies in the state to correct the 2nd flashing our installers installed when we did the roof. As of today the same flashing 2nd generation installed is still the current one installed on the HOs chimney.  The roof was installed per MFG specs and passed inspection by the city. There are sometimes nails that are unintentionally missed when the crews do clean-up so the homeowners accusations are unfounded.

I am rejecting this response because:
The city did not inspect the flashing.   Secondly our chimney never leaked prior to the attempt of their wok.   They did not offer to repair the stain in ********** ceiling that was caused by their work.   At our cost of ******* we had the flashing reworked correctly.   The compromise of this chimney is do to all the cuts in the the bricks that were caused by Advantages installers.   In addition, failure to address the rest of claim and close on the roof portion of the contract and dissolve the part of the contract which addresses the siding.  they have not addressed these issues..

Statement is false - ** could be correct that it never leaked but that doesn't mean it was installed correctly as previously stated in our original response as 2nd Generation Chimney was the one who corrected the incorrect install our roofers did and that's when it was discovered.  Which was stated in the original response. Not sure what the ** is referring to failure to address the rest of the claim.  We did the roof which passed inspection and we corrected the chimney flashing.  The $1,600.00 damage to the ceiling the ** was given the opportunity to have it corrected and chose to have it done himself.  Also, we absolutely have released him of the siding portion of the contract now if the ** hasn't sent him the paperwork on that we will get that resolved, but I'm not sure why the ** hasn't called into the company to ask the question instead would like to complain and tell in accurate facts.

Our house was damaged by hail in May of 2022 and construction company still has not replaced the siding of our house despite being paid by insurance.

    Business Response

    Date: 01/10/2024

Responding to the complaint from ******************* on 12/20/2023.

The homeowner is inaccurate in his complaint, yes the claim that he filed from hail damage which occurred on 5/9/2022 is correct and the homeowner signed a contract with us on 5/30/2022 for the full roof replacement and partial siding replacement. The roof was completed on 7/13/2022.  The siding went back and forth with their insurance company for months to no avail of getting the full house covered for replacement.  This is standard with insurance companies and it's only getting worse.

Then the house was hit again on July 14,2023 and our Project Manager suggested to the ** to contact their insurance company again which they did and this time the full siding was paid for.  The ** signed a contract on 9/13/2023 and we started working on getting everything together for them on 10/14/2023 the homeowner was informed that the siding materials was a minimum of 4 - 6 weeks out and that once the supplier received it we would get them on the schedule to complete the work. The work is scheduled to be dropped here shortly. It was supposed to happen this week but because of the impending cold weather we will not install until the temperatures are closer to mfg specifications.

I am rejecting this response because:
You can spin this any way you want. The fact is, I still dont have my house sided and there has been NO communication whatsoever. This is a poor way to treat a customer who put their trust in you. *** had to reach out again and again in this whole process from the beginning, and have rarely received any callbacks. We would have been satisfied with a partial replacement, but you very emphatically said fight the insurance company, youll get a full replacement. This took so long that the siding manufacturer discontinued this siding. A partial replacement would have been somewhat noticeable in the beginning, but it would have blended in. And now we wait again. This issue is really about integrity more than anything. I refuse to be treated like this way yet theres nothing I can do but complain. Advantage doesnt care, and they will continue on in business as if nothing happened.

We stand by our first response to this issue, and as previously discussed in our original response the weather warmed up and our crew is out installing the siding this week.  We can't control vendors discontinuing colors and such and the Homeowner didn't seem to have an issue once the remaining siding was paid for when the house was hit again. We did have a hiccup with having to get a Manager involved on this project because a project manager was going through some personal issues, so my guess on the issue of communication stems from that, but we have documentation in our system with copies of all paperwork and messages to when the homeowner was contacted and such which was also included in our last response.  Also the Homeowner still has a balance on their project which I'm sure will be taken care of once the project is completed we typically bill the insurance company once the project has been completed.  They are correct about integrity and that is why we have these processes in place.
