    Nine years ago, I was diagnosed with lung cancer. After enduring treatment and a long recovery, I was left with significant debt. I sought help and chose LSS Financial Counseling, hoping they would support me on my path to financial stability. Unfortunately, my experience with them has been deeply disappointing.
    In the beginning, everything seemed to work well. I sent them around $1,000 monthly, and they handled payments to my creditors. But over time, they started making those payments late. For instance, this month I submitted my payment on the 7th. Today is the 17th, and only one of my creditors has received a payment; four others are still unpaid.
    LSS told me that if I submitted payment by the 10th, they would pay creditors by the 15th. When I asked on the 16th why payments hadn't gone out, I was told they would be sent that day. They weren’t. This has happened multiple times, with payments often going out after the 20th.
    Meanwhile, I continue to receive warning emails from creditors saying I’m violating payment agreements, agreements I’m doing everything I can to honor. The stress this creates is overwhelming. I check the bank apps daily to see if the payments have gone through. This level of unreliability is unacceptable for a service that charges $75 a month.
    If fighting cancer wasn’t hard enough, now I have to fight to protect my financial future because of an agency that was supposed to help. I would not recommend this service to anyone. No one deserves to go through this kind of unnecessary anxiety, especially when they’re doing their best to stay on track.

    Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. LSS Financial Counseling understands the importance of timely and consistent monthly payments to creditors on behalf of individuals we serve through the *************** Plan (***) as well as the importance of their financial stability and financial goals. We want to reassure this individual that *** distributed his funds on time to his creditors. In this case, our disbursement process was communicated in an email to this individual when he initially expressed his concerns to us in March and in April. Regarding when payments are made to creditors, we follow a consistent payment process with creditors every month. As a result, we are not able to send payments earlier than they are scheduled. *** disburses funds the next business day after the payment due date to LSS Financial Counseling, if the payment is cleared by the individuals bank. Once *** disburses the funds electronically, creditors will process the payments within 2 business days. During this payment processing time, creditors reserve the right to communicate with their customers until they process the *** payment. Oftentimes, communications by a creditor may be sent to the account holder when the monthly payment is still being processed on the creditor side. Unfortunately, communications from creditors are not within our control. At LSS Financial Counseling, our first priority is to enhance the financial wellbeing of those we serve. We apologize for any frustration or stress that this situation may have caused and wish this individual all the best with his health and financial wellness. LSS Financial Counseling has honored his request to close his file. He will now resume paying his creditors directly. Again, we wish him well.
