    I hired Handyman Connections to build a privacy fence last November (2023). Since the first day of the build there has been issues including the builder coming out thinking he was building a deck and not a fence. He commented on incorrect wood being ordered, did not know how to assemble the pieces. They damaged my neighbors shed in the process of building and told me it was not a big deal. The fence is not 6 feet tall and has not held up. The wood is warping, the spacing is changing, the gate was built incorrectly without a support bar and therefore kept falling to the ground. The company has been out multiple times and numerous employees have admitted they made a mistake, that the posts are too far apart, that the wood used was incorrect. Their solution is to add additional posts, which are visible to the naked eye and diminish the look of the fence itself. They claim there is nothing more they can do. I have told them that every time they come out to fix something the fence looks worse and the value decreases. I asked for 30% of my total payment back and they said they will not give any money back but all they can do is add these additional supports. I paid $14,661 for the fence and asked for $4,398 back. When they add these additional supports it will look like a DIY fence I put up myself, not that I paid that much money for a professional fence build. I feel I am owed for the fact that my final product will not be what I was sold and promised.

    Many things about Kirstens statements are correct. The wood is warping, the neighbor did get involved, and we did provide alternative solutions. All of these were addressed in turn. I had numerous people out, always with her approval, to fix agreed upon items. The list continued to grow. On one of my final visits, ******* agreed that out of the 5 different fixes I offered to this Material defect (which we don't warranty to begin with), she would select one and I could execute the solution on all of the fence panels. After I spent more time getting the 5 different fixes installed, she then said she didn't like any of them and wanted money back. Not specifically to fix the issues, which i am willing to do, but as an arbitrary number.

     

    Our promise was to install a fence that met code, use the product she desired, and have our materials installed square, level, and plumb. The fence does not prevent the wood from warping, which is the primary problem with the material.

     

    I am still willing to execute on the solutions I described above, but was not given permission from the homeowner.

    This company was listed in Dakota Homeowner Referral Guidebook.Started siding repair last fall and now will not respond by phone nor emails to complete this project. We already have paid half of the fee.
