If I could put a "no star" I would. First. I would like to know why they have a A+ rating on Better Business Bureau when they have had so many complaints??? Jesse ****** is a good Salesman but tries to cheat insurance company and homeowner. Says it's his "own guys" but he hires contractors. Hounded me to turn over insurance check but then poor communication and poor workmanship. Weeks between roof and gutters. Tried to charge for work we had agreed he wouldn't do and wouldn't get paid for. ADVICE
      1. Get 2-3 bids from different companies
      2. Get $ bid and exact list of job
      3. Don't turn over insurance check or let him see detailed paperwork work from insurance company. Deposit in your bank and then pay a % and upon satisfactory completion of work, pay remaining balance. Like other companies do.
      4. Be prepared for prolonged headache. Get a good attorney.
I have full replacement insurance which means that I will be reimbursed on damage minus depreciation. He tried to charge me for work eeven though we had agreed he would not be completing that part of the project. He looked at insurance paperwork and added that to the bill. I work with insurance companies on daily basis, so I understood that my deductible was met by losing the $ I would have gotten for unfixed portion on house. If I want that fixed at a later date, that will be coming out of my own pocket. He knows how to work the insurance companies to take advantage of them and homeowner. Insurance with full replacement benefits are complicated so have your insurance representative explain to you in detail before agreeing to payment. Most people don't have full replacement insurance but if you do, you need to know how it works.
I had forgotten that I got a bid from SELA and their quote was $4,000 less than final payment to Welter Construction. Neighbor had work done and had terrible experience also. One Google review said he started a new site to hide bad reviews.

The roof was replaced in a timely manner, and they worked with the insurance, and communicated with updates. Thanks The *******

We used welter and they did a great job on our house. From our roof to siding to gutters and garage door, they did all of it and we were very happy!

Roger stopped by our home after our town had gone through a hailstorm. He was a big talker and unfortunately talked us into going with his company. It took them 16 months to completely finish the job and once Roger gets your business, he will never talk to you again. He just wants your business and YOUR MONEY and after that he will not communicate with you. If you email him, he will NEVER email you back. He is a terrible businessman and I would never recommend anyone to go with his company. I will say though that other employees in the company communicated well and were very friendly.

Our experience with Welter construction this past year was hellacious, to say the least. There were many times when we were left speechless at how we, paying clients, were being treated, spoken to, and how they were handling our situation. In an attempt to keep this brief here is a summary of our experience. The original project manager, *****, was one of the worst PMs we have ever worked with. His words mean nothing - he says he will show up at X time on X date and when you call to see where he is he forgot about it. We later learned we were not the only ones and that many others (with much bigger projects) were being treated the same way. After being left to handle an inspection ourselves, because he forgot, we made the decision to no longer speak with ***** and moved our communication to *******, who was also working on our project. ******** communication was much better and was the saving ***** in this entire experience. Do yourself a favor and go with the other bids if you come across Welter construction in your searches. The contract states they will dispose of all trash, which is false, as well as HORRIBLE communication (dont expect ******, the owner, to ever pick up the phone or call you back) until of course it is time to collect payment! If you hire this company, be prepared for terrible communication, forgetfulness, blaming others, a lot of frustration, failed inspections due to a lack of attention to detail, cigarette buds INSIDE + throughout your property, and an owner who will belittle your complaints and concerns into a, and I quote, that is just construction statement. The owner will treat you like garbage and next to *****, is one of the most unprofessional people we have ever met. It makes sense how I am later reading how he has multiple complaints to the ********* ********** of ***** and Industry for bad business practices. This was the worst investment we made. When we share our story with other contractors we hired, they are appalled.

Hello - I apologize for the length of time that has transpired since your review. Thank you for relaying your experience.

We at Welter Construction would like you know that we are very sorry for that experience - your Project Manager is no longer employed here.

Ultimately - this comes down to good communication, coordination and customer service - due to covid last year, many labor crews and material distribution lines were impacted. We had many customers waiting **** weeks just for materials to come in.

Again, we are very sorry you did not have a good experience - Welter has been actively lining up new customer service strategies to prevent such instances from occurring again.

Thank you again for your time and information,

      Most sincerely,

      Welter Construction

Welter has turned a 15’ x 15’ addition with small deck from a contracted 4-6 week project into a 16 month project from hell. From the beginning the blueprint didn’t tie the addition to the house, they didn’t order materials when they said, cut open my roof and left exposed causing water damage, used all of my new house touch up paint as primer, left trash across the street without a dumpster, stored materials on my lawn killing the lawn, ordered the wrong size windows, cut open the walls before confirming window sizes, hanging tacky plywood, and demanding payments before work was complete. They take your 40% deposit and then disappear for months at a time. They don’t answer the phone or return emails and texts in a timely manner, and when they do they lie. They don’t honor what they say, and go back on their word demanding exorbitant change orders to do work if not explicitly documented in plans. They use subcontractors busy working on other projects, and don’t show up when they say and don’t clean up after themselves. Roger the owner is a legend in his own mind, and is the most unprofessional person to his subs and clients. He’s seeking final payment before state electrical and city inspection. He’s censured by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry for multiple bad business practices. Don’t believe what his salesman say, they only want your deposit to keep his business afloat.

It’s been over 2 months since anyone worked on or even contacted us about the project after the owner agreed to get his production manager to wrap up the project professionally.
