Defendant was hired to complete construction for a bedroom, bathroom, family room and laundry room on the lower level of my home. He posed as a capable electrician who was to run electric wiring to outlets, lights, switches, smoke and co-detectors and complete all finish work related cover plates etc. He was also to frame the entire area and complete HVAC to all the necessary rooms so they were compliant. He also acted as primary contractor for setting up plumbing lines, water lines and drains to install a shower and sink.  He subcontracted the HVAC and plumbing.

After I hired a different contractor to do the sheetrock, taping, mudding and painting, Jake was to return to complete the electrical wiring and unfinished HVAC vent work. When he came over to finish he refused to begin the finish work until he was paid in full for the whole job. I paid via Zelle and paid an additional 300 for him to install the light fixtures, switches, and outlets as discussed (minus bathroom fixture). After paying him via Zelle, I told him I had to run some errands and I left the house. He left almost immediately after I left and did not mention anything to me. When I returned home, my lights were literally stuck “on” and the wires were exposed and “hot” everywhere. He later replied that he would have to return in the next few days to finish. He never returned. He stopped answering. It wasnt until I Called him from another number that he answered and admitted that he messed up and that something was “double feeding”-- again he stated he would come back. After weeks of him ghosting me more, I finally told him I had to hire someone else to come fix his mistakes. The company had to diagnose what he messed up and fix the issues. This included cutting out drywall. I have quotes for fixing HVAC and drywall that need to be completed.

When confronted, he became threatening and slandered an unrelated business in different state on the internet.
