To: Better Business Bureau From: *********************** Re: Cemetery grave marker Hello BBB,I would like to file a complaint against Lakewood Cemetery at ******************************************************************** the fall of 2021, I ordered replacement grave markers for my mother and father at a cost of $1775.48 each = $3550.96.My fathers marker was to appear as seen in the photo below. I was given the impression the marker would be created during the winter and placed in the ground in spring 2021. Without any advisory from Lakewood regarding this matter, we drove over to the cemetery in the middle of the summer. My fathers marker had been placed but the inscription was incorrect. It read: DAD ******************************* **** - **** When I complained to Lakewood, I was told the entire process would need to start over, which means waiting until next summer for his marker to be place. It seems that:1.A rush order could have been place so that the marker would be ready sooner.2.I am entitled to some sort of reimbursement, perhaps the cost of my fathers marker.I have asked that the incorrect marker be removed so as not to upset other family members visiting the grave site. This distressing error lies purely with Lakewood Cemetery. I followed all the required steps and paid the $3550. 96 in the fall of 2021.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/20/2022

Lakewood has previously responded to customer directly on these same concerns regarding the marker he wished to replace. Upon finding out there was an error on the previous marker, we immediately replaced it with the one originally on the grave until an accurate replacement can be made. Unfortunately supply chain issues beyond our control prevent us from taking any action that he would find satisfactory. This is not a matter of finding people to expedite work ("rush order". It is simply that the marker material he has selected is not physically available at this time. If he believes there is another company that can address his concerns more quickly, we will gladly cancel his order and refund his money. Otherwise, we hope to fulfill his order as soon as we can obtain the materials necessary.

     Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

The response from Lakewood was weak.  I would love to find another company to work with, but the stone of the new marker must match our other marker.  In 2 words, we're stuck.  My point in notifying BBB was so that others may read about this less than acceptable job.
