    Business Response

    Hi ****,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. My apologies for not knowing the details of how you received a swab kit (through signing up for a kit on our website or receiving one at an event with a swab table). Once you swab your cheek and send in the sample, our lab begins processing your sample for the markers needed to match to a searching patient. Your sample is stored until if/when it is flagged as a match for a searching patient. At that time, you would be contacted to ask if you would still be willing to be a donor.

Additionally, you may receive periodic messages via email or text, if you have signed up through either of those systems, keeping you updated on NMDP/Be The Match activities and once per year you should receive a message to confirm that you are still interested in donating your blood stem cells.

If you would like to confirm that you have joined our registry via your swab, please call 1-800-MARROW-2 ***************).

Finally, for additional information, I would like to provide this website on the how and why of NMDP/Be The Match, as well as an FAQ page: **********************************************************************************
