I sent this company a deposit in August 2023 for a Defender 90. I would soon learn this spring that the company claimed to be insolvent, but that almost 30 others found themselves in a similar situation...deposit, empty representations, and then no vehicle. So sad and hope there is justice for those involved.

Ethical issues as the owner used his work account to pursue me for a year while apoarently not communicating to any of these poor customers he took money from uofro All the while never mentioning his live in girlfriend, even when I asked if he was ina *************** anything from the start Again using his Bishop and Rook instagram account making it seem credible because why would anyone risk that? It seems he wasn't "straightforward" as he puts it" with a lot of people, for a very long time. Well I dont appreciate a business or owner using me, lying to gain my friendship and more, so I shared that with his girlfriend and anyone else i could, and I unsurprisingly found many other women that had been out through it over the decades and customers tgat have contacted me.He obviously knows what people want , why not just be that man instead if pretending to be? It would be so much more fulfilling for EVERYONE. He is good at elicitng sympathy so beware.

After sending Bishop+Rook our 50% deposit in September 2021, I had a difficult time getting any updates about the contracted Defender 90. On March 14, 2023, Bishop+Rook sent an email titled: A Sad Ending...With a heavy heart, we share the sad news of the closure of Bishop+Rook...As a result of the ongoing operations issues, the company has decided to be liquidated via a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing in the District of *********. You will receive a notice directly from the courts once the case is filed. There are assets to be liquidated, which may be distributed out to aggrieved customers and vendors, so a claims process will ensure a pro-rata distribution of these assets once liquidated. You will receive instructions from the court on how and when to file a claim. With the deepest of regrets,The Bishop+Rook Team What is deceiving is that the day after this email was sent, the multiple negative ****** reviews were removed and the website is still operating.Buyer beware.

Buyer Beware I did not want to post this but after 7 months I have received no response from the owner of Bishop+Rook to resolve my issue. In July of 2022 I signed a contract with Bishop+Rook for an off the frame restoration of a Defender 110 (Standard Hard Top ************* Package). January 5, 2023 I decided to end my contract and requested a refund on my deposit. By contract I had every right to cancel the order. Up to that point I had received no update, invoice, or documentation (as required by their contract) that any work had begun on my project. After I cancelled the order, my reservations with the company were confirmed. The owner altered an email thread to make it appear that he had been updating me on the progress of the build. Fortunately, ***** timestamps all the emails and verified that the altered email of supposed November 21 2022 was actually sent on January 8th (after I had cancelled the order). There was also a link within this email to a ****** document that I had been requesting. When I checked the property tab of that document, it showed a creation date of January 7, 2023. Again, created after I had cancelled my order and a day before the email was sent. I saved screen shots and video recordings documenting all of this. The owner stated that he could not give me a refund until someone else took on the project because he was pretty deep into [the] project with the vehicle stripped and the engine nearly back from machining. I now have pictures and video of this vehicle still at his warehouse unstripped and in the same condition as when it came off the boat.I have emailed and called the owner on multiple occasions with no response since January. I had my lawyer send him a letter with no response. I have been trying to get my deposit back for 7 months now.Bishop+Rook speak of midwestern values and integrity on their website. In my situation, their actions so far have been anything but.

I first reached out to Bishop and Rook in January of 2021, he responded quickly to calls, text and emails. After approximately a month, we had the details of my order and the pricing agreed to with a contract signed in February of 2021. The owner originally told me that my build would take approx. 4 months and that he was going to try and do it as quickly as possible. Fast forward to today, June 28, 2023, and I still do not have my vehicle.I have paid each invoice within a week of receiving it, so there has not been a delay on my side. First, he let me know that there was a delay for parts due to Covid, due to my profession, I understand very well and did not make a big deal about it. Then after that there were several other excuses it was too hot, then there was too much snow, no employees, parts delays again(after he told me he had all the parts), he didn't order enough leather, etc.., then long periods of no responses or communication. I had wondered if he was still in business, if he sold my vehicle to someone else, if I had been scammed or what the status was.It takes, 3-5 emails to get one response, at this point over the 28-month timeframe I have sent 48 emails and made 18 calls and Bishop and Rook has responded with 16 emails and 1 call. Basically, I get one vague email every 2 months, that typically doesnt answer all the questions from the previous emails, and he consistently tells me that the vehicle will be done shortly, but it never is.At this point I am reaching out to see what my options are legally because I still can not get Bishop and Rook to respond to me or finish my vehicle. I live 10 hours away from his shop, so I cannot simply go visit, I would have.I would not trust Bishop and Rook at this point. If I get the vehicle, I will update my review.
