    I was not informed before, during or after my appointment that my insurance was out of network. I was also not informed that a preop was being performed at the date of service which cost $308 I was under the impression I was scheduled for just a consult as I was told on the phone I would have a consult, a preop, and then the actual procedure. I also felt ridiculed by the doctor for my previous dental work done and for my dental health. I was not informed ahead of time of any costs needing to be paid at the date of service. I did not want to pay my bill and reluctantly did so after much debate with the staff and after mention of collections. Now I am expected to pay in full ahead of time for dental work, and I do not feel comfortable returning so I feel that I basically had the preop for no reason. There is also no reason the cost of a preop should have been $308 when all they did was take my blood pressure and pulse ox with machines and have me read a form and sign it. The dentist also multiple times tried to convince me to get more teeth, worked on and basically tried to sell me on Invisalign, even though it was not the reason I was there nor do I need it as I have previously had braces. Overall, it was a terrible experience. I do not want to return and now Ive paid for a preop that I didnt know I was scheduled for. Please help me, what can I do?

    ************** was notified on 5/2/24 about a BBB claim from complainant.  ************** called her to discuss the complaint.  Even though she was told verbally on the phone when she scheduled her appointment that the preop was non refundable and patient agreed, she stated she was still confused and didn't understand.  During the initial call the process she was also informed that we were an out of network provider for her insurance.  When patient was in the office ************** did take an x-ray and gave patient a recommendation for treatment, the preop was done by the assistant, which we typically try to do as a convenience to the patient. Patient was upset at checkout when payment was collected.  She said that she didn't know about the non-refundable preop, even though patient signed the agreement.  After ****************** conversation with patient, and receiving the BBB notification, in good faith the determination was made to refund the patient except for the x-ray fee.  We have had no other contact with her and notified the referring doctor that she is looking at other options.
