As of today (07/19/2023) I would give A-1 Seamless Gutter 0 stars. They won't stand behind the prices that their Salesman quoted and annotated in my house. No explanation on my part is recognized or appreciated. They are now threatening my credit rating because I won't pay a bill that only THEY recognize.
A couple of months ago, I got a flyer from SunSetter awnings offering a $1,000 discount on an awning. I called the phone number and they sent a salesman (from A-1 awnings in Saginaw, MN) to my house. After a lengthy process (lots of math and entry errors) I was quoted a price of $6,225 for the awning. We then requested a price for a window shade. I was quoted a price of $1,219 for the shade. After some additional calculations (I assumed he was correcting the previous errors) I was TOLD that after a $3,500 down payment the TOTAL BALANCE DUE was going to be $3,225. He annotated and circled same on the invoice for the awning. I gave him a check for $3,500 and after installation I gave the installer a check for $3,225. Several days later I got a bill for $719 - supposedly for the reminder of the bill for the blind. I called A-1 Awnings, they said it was 2 different separate orders, even though the $3,500 down payment was $3,000 for the awning and $500 for the blind. For sure, when the salesman left my house the wife and I believed the total - for both awning and blind - was going to be $6,725.
After several non returned phone calls and (eventually returned) emails, A-1 Gutters is threatening to submit the bill to collection and to damage my credit rating. Absolutely no give or admission that the complete fault lies with their salesman/representative.
What can you guys (the BBB) do to help this situation. I've also called SunSetter and asked for their assistance. No response as of yet!

We are sorry that Mr. * does not realize that we called on multiple occasions since he was on the other end of the phone at the time. We have in fact explained the order form had he is not able to understand. Mr. * has been verbally abusive towards myself and my staff and we have no intention of allowing that to continue. We have offered a settlement to Mr. * to expedite the matter but at this time he is unwilling or unable to acknowledge. We are therefore unable to assist him in his efforts to have his credit saved from damage.

I was asked by BBB if I wanted to respond to A1's answers to my accusations. How about a point-by-point rebuttal.1.If, and its a BIG IF, I was on the phone when she (the manager who authored the previous diatribe) called, it only happened once. Even IF it did, theres always email.2. "We have in fact explained the order form had he is not able to understand". Carefully read the last sentence, how could I have possibly misunderstood that? 3.I was never verbally abusive. However, they never returned my calls and then after they stopped answering my emails, I did malign (via email) their marketing skills or lack thereof.4.She never offered me a solution other than to pay the bill or suffer credit damage. Im reasonably sure she believed everything the salesman told her even though the written evidence proved otherwise. After I contacted the owner of A1, he offered me a compromise that I immediately took. 5.All of this is due to an inexperienced A1 salesman, who made numerous errors during the sales pitch and on the sales form entry. Eventually, he verbally (and in writing) made me a reasonable offer, which I took. I paid the full initial deposit, and the balance due (in full) at installation. A1 management refused to stand behind their salesmans written offer. She even verbally admitted that he (the salesman) sold me the goods too cheap. And thats my fault how? Again, its why I questioned their marketing skills!
