      We enlisted Ispiri to help us with our project, constructing an indoor sport court addition on our home. We were promised a high level of transparency and accountability for the initial project budgeting and were assured that the $17,000 we spent for design, would be applied towards our overall budget for the project. We brought the vision along with the overall design for the space and had architectural plan already in place prior to selecting Ispiri (we hired a 3rd party architect to give us a better baseline and to provide better clarity for our vision to Ispiri and other GCs during our selection process). We selected Ispiri based on the initial budget they provided along with promises of making sure we operated within the budget as we finalized the design. Along with the plans we provided to Ispiri, we spent a considerable amount of time scoping out the project on our own, providing details for their bid narrative, and providing a full electrical design and mechanical scope for the project as well.
      After all of these efforts we ended up with a projected estimate cost of $450K, the original budget from Ispiri was $280-$365K (which was based on very high-end finishes). We did not make any changes to the overall footprint for the home addition and even relaxed our original expectations for some of the high end finishes in the space. It was our expectation that with the initial budget high end finishes were already factored in, they were not. We are now out $17,000 with no design as Ispiri maintains that this is their design and it cannot be used with other contractors. Be careful with Ispiri, they hold your feet to the fire leveraging your family’s happiness to push you to spend well beyond your budget with zero explanation as to why they were so far off. They provide zero transparency or explanation other than claiming “every project is unique” as to why they were so off base on their original budget. I’m extremely disappointed and would never recommend them.
