Took the 1/2 deposit , signed contract and started work only to work no more than 2 hours a day and disappear for days without notice. Presented bill for materials which would be ok but it included normal ******* tools.. strange but I paid to move forward. He literally tore my house apart and what work he did was appalling ! When rubble covered the floor, stain splashed on walls and new floors, paint everywhere and baseboard destroyed.. he demanded more money. I said no and happily he left. But took my materials and left my house in shambles. incompetent, unstable ( strange texts) Was very stressful! Do not let this person in your home. I lost a lot of money and that *** have been his plan from the start.

In April 2024, I hired Cooks Contracting to rebuild my front porch. The wood was old and deteriorating. Mr. ************* came out gave me an estimate and then the next day texted me a quote. I accepted his quote, paid almost $3,000 in check form which he cashed immediately and he came out two or three days later to get started. He had told me it would take 3 to 5 days to have it finished. He also told me that he had a crew of five or six guys that would be working with him. After that, he showed up three times total to work on the porch. He would work 2 to 3 hours after showing up after noon. He told me that it was because his wife would not wake him up in the morning to go to work . He left my front porch area in a very unsafe state. Nails, screws and boards were dropped everywhere. The larger pieces made it to the dumpster bag on my front lawn. I mentioned his punctuality to him, and the fact that time was running out, but he blamed the building company where he had ordered the materials from and said it was all their fault that they couldnt get it here and he couldnt afford to pay for the delivery. I was told by him that all four of his business trucks were not working. None of his other workers ever showed. He started putting down the product that I had wanted, a composite, but he was drilling holes straight into the wood beneath. This composite is made for hidden screws and fasteners. None of the screws hed put in were set beneath the wood. There are no screws that go through the top. When I saw this, and it was already three weeks past when he had said it would be done, I sent him a text saying I would be back from my vacation in three weeks and would talk to him at that time. Then he started threatening me with a lien on my house and telling me that I was trying to control his work which was sadly not the case at all. Ive since had the work redone by family.
