I moved into my duplex 06/10/2023. Upon moving in I called and set up all my utilities. I called the water company and they said I HAD TO physically come there and pay the deposits. We just moved from florida and have one car. Their hours are during the same time we work. I specifically took off work tomorrow 6/29/2023 to get this done just to find out they turned my water off. My children are home with no water. They want you to show up in person to pay the deposit and set up service but are completely discriminatory to people like me with limited transportation. They are in the middle of nowhere. It hasn’t even been a month and they shut us off! I have had the money if they were with the times and allowed me to set up service online it would have been paid. I just seriously can’t believe this practice. If you expect people to show up in person to set up service how about accommodate to them and maybe do a half day on Saturday or Sunday when people aren’t at work. Or better yet how about you allow them to set it up online like almost every other utility company in the country!

We turned the water on for cleaning for the management at **** ******** ***** ***** on 6/6/2023.  We went out on 6/27/2023 to turn the water off from cleaning and the serviceperson noticed that someone was living there.  They left our notice of no deposit with directions to come into our office, pay the deposit and sign a contract.  We received no communication from the notice and turned the water off 6/29/2023.  After the water was shut off, Susie called the office stating that she called us when they moved in and told the girl, didn't get the girl's name, they have only 1 car and it is very hard to come in to pay and sign the contract.  We have no record of that call. Office administrator asked if someone could come in for them with their information, sign the contract, and pay the deposit?  Susie said she would call all of her friends to see if one of them could do that. At 4:25 pm, Hector came into the office, demanding, with profanity, that his water to be turned back on, he has the money, only has one car, and that his wife called a couple of weeks ago telling us all this.  He continued cursing loudly, threw our pen back aggressively after signing the contract. Our office administrator gave him his receipt and our brochure, He left still cursing us.

If the Vergaras would have actually called us when they moved in, we would have worked out arrangements for them to sign the contract and pay the deposit.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

My husband wasn’t aggressive until the office clerk was rude and snappy with him. He also could hear them in the back office talking about him using racial slurs so yea he got a little angry. When I called on 6/10/2023 I told the clerk I would get there as soon as I could. She never gave me a time frame or took note of anything. How is that my fault? You’re the clerk you do nothing all day but take phone calls and process payments it’s not like you were too busy to jot down some info from me. So I took off work 6/30 to go up there and pay it. All this because you are so old and outdated you can’t just let people set up online yet when we get out bills we can pay those online it makes absolutely no sense. Obviously I was too late. I didn’t see the notice on my door because we come from the garage but my neighbor said she saw it one day before that but not the prior day so I got one day notice to get off work or beg someone to get up there. Yea that’s realistic. You can clearly see from all your complaints and reviews you are all horrible people and thrive on the power you have over people. I am NOT the only one to complain of how we were treated as consumers maybe take a few classes on etiquette and possibly learn to be more accepting of all races.

      Sincerely,

The company is scamming people. They give no notification that there's any problem with your service or bill. They don't send past due notices or shut off notices. My bill was 4 days past due and they shut my water off with no warning what so ever and they didn't leave any sort of notification that my water had been shut off. Then they charge $50 to turn it back on. The staff is incredibly rude and will literally laugh at you when you call to figure out what is going on. The Google reviews are explanation enough. This is the worst utility company I have ever had. They shouldn't be allowed to do this to people. My bill was due 11/4 and they shut my water off with no notice on 11/8. I only owed $100 and was never aware there was a problem. We even received an email on 11/1 just saying our bill was coming due. Absolutely nothing about the shut off, nothing about anything being past due. Life is busy and crazy, things get missed. This feels intentional. They do this on purpose so they can shut people's water off and then they have to pay that $50 fee. I'm not the only person this has happened to. There are people who would like to seek legal action against them. If I could choose a different company I would.

I am sorry, but we have no one by that name at the address of **** ********* **** ******* ** ******  I searched our system but could not find a customer with the name ***** ************.  I cannot give out billing information without the written consent of the customer we have on file for that address.  Thank you.
