see Attached documentI had a tree limb removed from mygutters following a storm on 5/25/2024. I have used **** ****** in the past, as have most of my neighbors, as his grandmother lives on our block. I catted him the following day and he said would have a crew there the next day (Memorial Day). He stated that he had a JOb before mine where he had to take down a couple of trees. He showed up with acrew of 5 men and three vehicles, including a crane. The limb was merely resting on my gutter and hanging over the driveway. This was a simple 2 man job and only a ladder was necessary to get onto my roof anda chain saw to cut it free. It did not require a crane. that he charged me $2,500 for (see itemized bill). I had opened a State farm claim before I called him and he appeared quite interested in billing insurance and he told me that he worked with insurance all of the time and would just bill them directly. i gave him the claim number and my agent's Information.
He charged me $6, 990 for one hour's work. I did not have a conversation about money, as he had been fair in the past. I spoke with a competitor, ****** **** after he did the work and showed their hcensed workers photos of the limb and he stated that he would have charged $2200 for 5 men for 2 hours.
The claim got approved by State Farm, but I had a deductible that had to be met. He not only gouged my insurance company, but he gouged me, as well. The day following the work, his wife called my State Farm offke asking when the claim would be paid . She was told that it went through the claims department. She also told my agent lhat I hadagreed to the egregious amount of money, which is not true. I asked 3 times for an itemized claim from Murphy's which, i assume, was created after the fact. I will be faxing a copy of this itemized list.
Murphy's continued to hound and harass my localoffice, the claims office in Georgia and me by phone, email and text until i sent them a certified check.
FYI, his wife arrived after they had finished the job, parked on the street and talked to Matt for a few minutes before leaving. Note the $385 charge for "support vehicle" .
In my opinion, this has fraud and abuse throughout.
