I help plan the Navy Destroyer ********* reunions with help from groups like Gatherings Plus.
We have used them before and had no problem at all and always able to reach someone that could help us. This time every time I needed something, they would they would get back to us and I, the planner, waited, waited and waited.
Our reunions are still suffering from the COVID and some are still afraid of it, so it cut down on our attendees. We only got 13 that signed up to attend. We finally had to cancel it because we were not going to get special pricing that we normally get. Our deadline was August 21, and our reunion date was September 21-24, 2022. We decided to cancel.
As of today, October 4, 2022 we are still waiting on our refunds. They keep saying we will get back to you.
What do we need to do to get our full refund back.
    Thank you. ********* ***** *************************

    Business Response

    Date: 11/29/2022

We were honored to work with the *** ******** in planning their 2022 reunion. They did have very low registrations and we advised Mrs. ***** that with the numbers they had that some of the items in their itinerary may no longer be available and that some may increase rates due to them not having enough to qualify for the group discounts. At that time the group decided to cancel their reunion. We have had several phone conversations with Mrs. ***** explaining that we would have to cancel all the reservations made on the groups behalf and then request refunds for the items we had paid deposits on. Once those were received we processed the refunds. I personally spoke with Mrs. ***** on multiple occasions and kept her updated on the status of the refund. We have refunded $956.92 Check #****** and $1,839.03 Check #******. Per our contract since the group did not purchase the Cancellation Protection Plan that was offered they are subject to a 10% processing fee. Please see below our Cancellation policy off the signed contract:

    Cancellation Policy:
By registering for this reunion, you are agreeing to the policies outlined below.
•If the Reunion is cancelled for any reason, all non-refundable deposits that have been made by Gatherings Plus will be reimbursed by the Association to Gatherings Plus.
•No refunds will be made on activity package after August 20, 2022 unless cancellation trip protection has been purchased.
•Payment in full is required at time of reservation deadline date.
•ALL changes and cancellations must go thru Gatherings Plus & are subject to a 10% fee.

I have not heard back from Mrs. ***** if they have not received the checks. The last conversation I had with her I gave her the check numbers and explained that they were refunded back to the association, she stated at that time that she would check with the lady that handles those. Again, I have had no further calls or emails to my knowledge. If Mrs. ***** feels there are missing refunds, I would be happy to speak with her via phone or through email to resolve those. We do wish the group the very best and hope the group can come together in the near future.
