I took a microblading class through Boss Brows LA beginning of December 2023. It was 2 weeks of online preceding a 3 day in-person class. I was about to send in final homework to complete the course to receive my certification. I have invested a decent amount of time and hard work, as well as money, on this so far. I then found out about a bill that was passed last August of 2023 regarding microblading laws. The law now states that an individual must have 300 hours of a licensed apprenticeship and 50 clients completed before obtaining your license (that is now required) and therefore being able to legally practice in ********. The bill was passed August 28th, 2 days before I signed my contract and made my deposit. I had signed my contract August 30th that stated and highlighted that microblading was currently not regulated in ********. I was also told by the owner in person on the last day of the in-person training in December that it was still not regulated officially, except for a Bloodborne Pathogens certificate required that I already had completed. I was even reassured that I would be able to start my business right away. I have already put so much time and money into it from the beginning, under the impression that I would be able to start my career immediately after my training and would not have to complete a lengthy tattoo apprenticeship. I would not have chosen to take the class had that fact been disclosed to me beforehand, much less spent the $2,750 on a training that would now be rendered useless to me, unless I wanted to spend another year+ on training. I have asked for my money back, the businesses response claimed to have had informed me of the bill beforehand and during the training many times. I have contacted another girl who has taken the class and she has said the same thing as me, we were never informed of this and feel extremely misled by the licensed owner, who is responsible for knowing and informing her students of current laws.

Thanks for reaching out! Our course, as described on our website, is designed to help our students succeed as accomplished microblading artists and with the completion of our training will receive a certificate of completion. We teach all aspects needed to become a microblading artist including: brow shaping, brow mapping, color theory, tools, microblading strokes + ombre procedure (manual shading), health/sanitation guidelines, aftercare practices, etc. We have had over 300 students complete our course to continue on with the skills required to make beautiful brows for their clients. We do not and have never offered a tattoo license. However, we are happy to guide you to resources for how to get a tattoo license in your state.
