Hired to pour a concrete patio with stain and design. We were told that this would take a week to complete and the company was to be out 06/20 to start excavation. Excavation wasn't started until the concrete company agreed with our landscaper to let him do the excavation to get the job started. This happened 07/12. Roughly $14,000 of the $26,000 has been paid and at this point continue to only have a hole waiting for concrete over three months later. Prep work that we were told was done two months ago has continued to slowly progress, but at this point we've been told at least four times that concrete has been scheduled with no concrete actually poured. We've had every excuse in the book thrown at us, it's too hot, my truck broke down, the concrete is in Belton instead of Lee's Summit, I can't get ahold of the concrete truck driver, etc. I will attach a current picture of what we have done, but we need help.

The job has prolonged has starting later from being pushed back on previous jobs from the early season rains holding up jobs which has an affect on every job on the books for the year. Once going on the job came up the drainage issue that I thought was handled on the landscape side as they are doing all drainage, along with the height of the block wall going in place not exceeding certain heights or needing engineer Dr awnings by code and site elevations being right on the line of exceeding the limit and having to hire the engineer for the landscaping/block wall I suggested a slot drain install for best outcome the change order to install the drain changed the complete elevations and forming of the pad and having to undo all the forms remove them for machines to dig to run the 45 feet of pipe and drains then reset all the forms again and changing how the actual pours were able to take place. When ordered the drain system from a supplier in lees summit they had to order it from the manufacturer as they didn’t stock the color (black) tops and was given a shipping delivery of a few days and on that day it wasn’t delivered and extended many more days before showing up at the supplier ( sent screen shots of messages from supplier to ***** each time the supplier notified me of the delays) finally get the drain installed and back on track and to my fault 100% I had some personal days away from business that was a must that did cause delay we spoke on that situation and frustrations which I fully understand and accept accountability as it’s all under my overseeing and completion some thing I can control and something I can’t control as I have fought the delivery of Concrete the past 30 days with e and I’ll attach screen shots of recent calls to every redi mix plant in the area and of the planned supplier that has agreed and then canceled or rescheduled or not answered leaving me in a situation! There is a Portland Cement Shortage that is playing big factors on the concrete industry and even more affect on small company’s as they cater to the large commercial jobs with 100s to 1000s of yards needed! The job is ready and all the concrete color, sealers, release agents and chemicals to preform the pours is also all on site and every besides the Concrete has been bought and paid for with the payments received and are on site or been used on site I’m at the mercy of the redi mix plant! Also the truck did break down in route to make the first pour on the 4th and was towed to a shop and is still currently at that shop 14 days later with diagnostics not fully complete or ready for the repairs by the shop yet but so far will need a $8000 transmission replacement alsong with a “misfire” issue and the truck is. 2019 and shouldn’t have issues but does and is my only Vehicle for Business use and personal use so that excuse has me slowed down in general aswell! Along with the past 2 noght dropping below freezing temps and unable to cover colored concrete without risking color issues that don’t go away or freezing the concrete with out coverage! Just few screen shots attached of dealing with concrete issues and have also reached out to old bosses and company owner I know well or worked with to help schedule I’ll post aswell

I am rejecting this response because: it is made to sound like the issues are a few weeks long. No work was done for over a month during this time. One week of rain shouldn’t set you back four months. If it’s too hot in July, but too cold in October then maybe we should actually work between those months. Personal issues aren’t my problem or any other consumer’s problem. If you’re running a business then you should deal with those. We also wouldn’t be dealing with a concrete shortage if the job was done when it was supposed to be, so there is no sympathy there. The entire process has been filled with dishonesty and no communication. Very little effort has been put towards trying to get the job done and even this response is filled with excuses that shouldn’t be my problem and wouldn’t be a problem if completed in June or July like we were originally told.

I fully understand and see the frustration in the length of time to complete your project as it was not intentional. I don’t benefit from the extended amount of time as currently having a upset customer is only a negative in every way most importantly, financially the longer the job or added trips decreases profits. Those both two main factors in any business. I wasn’t meaning in the previous message to use things as an “ excuse” but more as statement’s of events along the way. As the owner, I take all responsibility wether it’s negative or positive there’s no where to “point a finger”. I accept all fault in the situation and also apologize for it! Unfortunately I can’t go back and change mistakes or shorten the time to completion! I will use it as a lesson to help be a better owner and decision making on projects & scheduling. As for forward progress to complete the project with a change in delivery service concrete will be there tomorrow 10/21 at 7:30 am to complete the 1st of 3 pours the colored boarders then the 2nd and 3rd are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday 24th & 25th with final completion shortly following concrete placement. I hope that after the project is complete that satisfaction with the qauilty and over all Finish of the concrete will help ease some of the frustrations over the time take. To complete and will be enjoyed through the future! I hope you can accept my apology and this reply as a sincere apology to all frustrations leading us here! Apology isn’t given in hopes to “ok” the faults or change your frustrations on the situation it is only given so you hopefully you know I understand and accept the faults and failures! The project will be completed shortly!

sincerely, ****** ** GreyStone Concrete Company.

I am rejecting this response because: No one has been here all week. I understand it rained Monday, but there was no pour Tuesday or any other day this week with no communication.
