I signed a contract with Maris on February 12, ****************************************************************** employees. I was told the father/son duo that did all of their windows were not subcontractors. After problems arose following installation, I was told by the owner of the company that the installers were subcontractors, which was upsetting as I specifically chose Maris over competing bids because of this assertion. Maris has little oversight on the subcontractors they use, and they fail to check jobs for workmanship and completion targets. The first time they came to install the windows was in April 2024 (two months after signing the contract) and two windows had been ordered incorrectly and couldn't be installed. Additionally, new windowsills that were part of the contract were not there and not installed. Time passed and after these new windows arrived, one of these windows was broken, and had to be re-ordered for a third time. The windowsills did not begin to be installed until late January 2025 (nearly a year after the contract was signed) into February 2025 due to their subcontractor having multiple health issues, doctor appointments, a death in his family, vehicle issues, etc. where he was a no show on multiple occasions or just coming for a couple of hours at a time. I finally got a meeting with the owner on March 21, 2025 as the work had not been completed to my satisfaction (poor caulking, visible window foam sticking out from a 2nd story window, a crooked window, etc.) and given that it had been over one year I just want money back as I am tired of dealing with them and would prefer to have someone else fix these issues.

Our customers are very important to us. We have made every attempt to try to complete the project and have been denied access by the customer. We would be more than happy to take care of the issue and complete the installation, if we were granted access to the property.

For Maris to say they have been denied access couldnt be further from the truth.  What was supposed to be a two-day job in April 2024 ended up being a job that entailed the Maris subcontractor coming to my house numerous times over ten months, to which I made myself or a family member available every time despite the repeated inconvenience.  I did have an in person meeting with *** Maris, the owner of Maris, on 3/21/2025.  *** said many things such as, he wants to work something out and All I can do is try and make up - Im going to go back to the office and do what I said and create a win-win situation.  I havent heard from him since.  Id like some of my money back.  I did hear from Maris lawyers upon giving Maris some negative reviews online, which leads me to believe Maris threatens away all of their negative reviews so that only positive reviews appear.  It is concerning Maris offers customers financial incentives to leave glowing reviews, but threaten customers who leave negative reviews with legal action.

Maris Home Improvements is a family-owned business that prides itself on customer satisfaction. We have been operating since 2015, and since our founding we have strived to provide the utmost quality of service to our customers, which is reflected by the vast majority of our online customer reviews. Regarding this instance, there unfortunately appears to be two different recollections of events. While we deeply regret any instance in which a customer is not 100% satisfied with our work, we also understand as a business that conflicting opinions will undoubtably occur.

In June 2022, ***** remodeled our hall bathroom. In January 2023, we saw water leaking into our basement from above where this bathroom was located. The duration of the leak was unknown, because the water had only begun to drip to the floor after first dripping directly onto a shelf containing extra carpet remnants and ceiling tiles, which were completely saturated. Closer inspection of this area revealed that drywall for a downstairs bathroom on the other side of the wall had developed mold growth. It took approx 2 wks for someone from ***** to come out. The source of the leak could not be found. The contractor suggested getting a roofer to inspect for leaks coming from the roof. We did this, and minor repairs to our roof were made. The leak persisted for over a month. It was at this time that the baseboards in the corner of our master bathroom started showing mold. We pulled the baseboards and discovered a puddle of water between the walls, but we could still not see where the water was coming from. We called a plumber, who found the leak and repaired it. The plumber removed a piece of copper pipe that ran through a 2x4 that was approximately 12 inches from where the new shower line was installed. The pipe had a clear screw hole in it from the installer screwing drywall into the 2x4. The plumber believed the only reason water didn't spray anywhere was because the screw probably acted as a stopper to some extent, plus the hole was right up against the 2x4, which also stemmed the water flow. We again called ***** and asked them to come out and inspect what was found. They initially stated that we voided our warranty by having the leak fixed by another party. After more discussion, they agreed to pay our $750 plumbing bill but asked us to "compromise" by having us replace our moldy drywall and bathroom flooring WHICH WAS CAUSED BY THEIR MISTAKE! This is not a compromise - this is dishonest, unethical, and unprofessional.

The owner *** ***** as well as the production manager ******* ********** had met with Mr. & Mrs. *****. We have agreed to repair damages created by us as well as giving them money off. I have attached a copy of our addendum to the project. It has been signed by our customer as well as an officer from our company. They have also agreed to take any negative remarks down since we have all agreed on a fix.
