I had outpatient surgery at this clinic on August 3, 2022. The clinic tried to charge my insurance company over $9,300 for this. My insurance only allowed $807. Since this was “out of network” I was to pay 35% of the $807 equaling $282.46. The doctors office decided to charge me 35% of the requested payment of over $9,300 and forced me to write a check for $3,196.26 on the spot before surgery could be performed. I should have only paid $282.45. Not being a doctor I wasn’t aware of the rates of surgery so never questioned it. However this year I needed the procedure again, only to find I had vastly overpaid last year. I paid a 35% deductible this year of $291. I have been in contact with Mud America Spine Center often, being assured I would be paid the $2,913.81. This was a Billing manager named *****. That was months ago and now they don’t answer their phones. Aetna, my insurance has filed a grievance against them for this crooked practice and in talking to them they actually paid Mid America Spine the $524.55 for last years surgery which was the rest of the $807 of the agreed charge after my supposed $282.45 out of pocket. So not only did Mid America Spine Center vastly overcharge me by $2,913.81 which they still owe me, they also took the $524.55 of the insurances money.
Please tell me you can help me. I’m on a fixed income on disability and really need this money.
