I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a dispute with the University of Missouri-Columbia, which pertains to my eligibility for the Missouri Online Military Tuition Award. This complaint arises due to a disagreement concerning the interpretation and application of their policy and attached website advertisements.

I received a response from Stefanie, a representative of the university, on 8/30/23, in which she explained that I was deemed ineligible for the award due to having accumulated more than 150 cumulative credit hours. The university's policy, states the following: "The 10% tuition award reduces base tuition only; other fees still apply. The award is for a maximum of 150 cumulative credit hours toward an undergraduate online degree and 75 cumulative credit hours toward a graduate online program. Cumulative hours include transfer credit (Example: If Mizzou awards you 60 hours in transfer credit from a previous school attended, a maximum of 90 Mizzou undergraduate credit hours would be eligible for the tuition award.)"

The policy mentions that cumulative hours include transfer credits. However, it is unclear how transfer credits not related to my current degree program are being considered when calculating my eligibility for the Missouri Online Military Tuition Award. Further, I have never previously utilized this award. Therefore, I am uncertain why any previously awarded transfer credits, not associated with my current degree program, should impact my eligibility. I believe that my eligibility for this tuition award has been unjustly denied, and I am seeking your assistance in resolving this matter.

I respectfully request that the Better Business Bureau investigate this dispute and facilitate a resolution between the University of Missouri-Columbia and myself.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to a prompt resolution to this dispute.

    Respectfully,

    Good Morning,

When reading the policy, it states 150 credit hours. This student has exceeded the amount of credit hours. The policy includes any transfer credits used as well.

    Thanks!
