  I made the mistake of hiring ***** for both behavioral and obedience training. Shame on me! My experience/opinion ( supported by videos, photographs, text messages, recorded phone conversations): He is knowledgeable but practiced outdated/disproven techniques ( e.g. dog will heed your growl but only if it is perfect like *****'s). He can relate to and communicate very well with dogs but communicated very poorly with humans ( unless you question nothing, ignore his miscommunications, stroke his ego, and NEVER point out his mistakes, even if caught on video). He lacked self-awareness and was clueless to his markedly unprofessional, condescending, and demeaning "teaching style". His apparent narcissistic ( he is THE BEST, ignored clients' needs, demonstrated no empathy) and obsessive-compulsive ( excess focus on details a major impediment to progress in training, insistence on technique perfection and rigid training severely delayed training progression) personality traits resulted in poor results. Slow progression in training was because owner failed or was not perfect, not because dog difficult to train or technique was inappropriate or ***** wasted time going off on tangents ( he argued for 5 minutes that a sweet potato is NOT a vegetable). He demonstrated very poor judgement advising a dangerous and inappropriate technique resulting in significant injury to owner, and his response was focused on distinction between "vicious' and "violent" rather than the consequences of his mistake. When 7 of 10 contracted obedience sessions were completed and I shared criticism of his "training" he just quit. My overall impression: an immature, petulant, experienced but outdated and woefully unprofessional trainer. Spare yourself potential pain and suffering and achieve a happier dog and home by hiring someone else: a professional who treats paying clients with respect, courtesy, and genuine concern.

  ***** was able to help train our family and our dog in a very professional manner. Comes with lots of exeprience and uses the latest clinical/ research based information to meet the needs of the client. ***** also built a strong relationship with our dog which showed his compassion in his career. Highly recommend.

  ***** is the first trainer that was willing to take on our dog **** for his fear based reactivity to dogs and give us real results! Our dog can now meet other dogs without losing his mind. Other trainers told us we had to get our dog to learn to focus on us instead of the other dogs, and they wouldn't even let us continue with training unless we could successfully get our dog on his own to pay more attention to us than other dogs, which never happened. Thanks to *****, our dog can now make friends! He uses positive reinforcement and calming techniques for training. I don't care if people think Howie is rude or crude, I pay him to get results with my dog, which is what I got.
