      I am writing to share an experience we had with Socket Telecom in ******** on April 7, 2025. They came to our home, without our permission and drilled holes in our foundation and siding, attached a pipe, dug up a long stretch of our yard, ran a cable across the yard and covered it. After hearing an extremely loud and frightening noise, I went outside, talked to the technicians and told them we DID NOT request this service and they were on our property illegally and WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION. They responded that they "made a mistake". I called the office, filed a complaint and asked for a return call. Today is one week ago and we still haven't received a call from Socket 's management.

      I live on Rose ****** ************ Address is *************About three months ago, I got a letter from Socket saying they going to put cable line through my front yard to bring fast speed internet in the area. I was very glad, company is growing & trying to improve their services. Least I knew, they are going to completely mess up & ruin my yard. They dug up three big holes, left them for three weeks, finally someone came with cable roll & they started putting cable. After about two weeks they, very carelessly patched up the holes, and hurriedly put very patchy straw. I am sure they forgot to put some grass seed. With the result on almost four spots I have nothing growing except all kinds of weed. I am very disappointed and disgusted. I need my lawn back. Socket, please send somebody to come and look at it. What a shoddy job they have done. Hope to see somebody soon.GK Frustrated

It looks like there is a city project in the area for sidewalk construction that *** be related. No further action will be taken by Socket, but if you have questions or any further information that you would like to discuss, please contact us. Thank you again.

      They broke our internet with our existing provider. They did not ask for access to our backyard to install a wire, they just did it, and it broke our current internet. They did not offer or attempt to fix it, they said it's our current providers property so they have to be the one to fix it. On the phone they said they'd reimburse any service fee, lost wages, etc, but the supervisor said they are not able to do so. They don't offer reduced introductory rates for the inconvenience. They do not have contact information they can provide for managers so you can't escalate any issues.

      Sad to say that while I like the fiber internet product, I am not thrilled by the lengthy installation process in "fiber ready" area.Had service installed ~ 2 years ago to our house in rural area of Boone County which was promoted as "fiber ready". It took several weeks to get service and when Tech came to do the final connection, the splicing was not done so he had to call in a favor and get another Tech to come over to the property to do the splicing. What was supposed to be a couple hours turned into 6 hours and had to take vacation day from work...Two years later, was hoping to get Socket installed at our new house in Columbia (aka not rural). When ordering the service (~1/5/2023) and talking with **************** Rep, was told that it would take 7 to 10 business days to get fiber ran to the house and then about a day or two to get Tech out to do the final installation. I just called to cancel their service since 1) still no service (we are at day 14) and 2) am being told the final installation can't be scheduled yet and it could take another 7 to 10 days. It will have taken ~ 4 weeks to get fiber internet service to a house that is allegedly "fiber ready".And the kicker is that since I am canceling service 'early' they are going to charge me $90 as per their ********* You would think that if they exceeded (actually doubled) their quoted installation timeline that there would be something to protect the consumer. Not sure how fiber will become the dominant service IF it takes 4 weeks to get it.

      I am writing this review to share my disappoint with Socket internet people and customer service policies. I cannot even give them 1 star. After paying them the ***** good faith fee to install socket in my home I asked to cancel their service. A month after requesting installation A socket employee just appeared in my yard digging for the fiber line. I was not informed of his arrival. We then had an employee come by to install and set up the internet. They wanted to drill through the brick outside a quest room. We discussed and determined we had changed our minds. We were not told how this process worked or what to expect. We did not sign any forms holding us to the agreement. When I called to cancel I was told their would be ***** cancellation fee. I expressed my annoyance to their service to customers. I have not paid this bill to date so each month they add more cancellation fees. I wanted to talk to an attorney about their poor ***************** Just beware of ******************** for these reasons. Yes and FYI they would not allow me to submit this review without giving a star rating. So I will give 1 star when 0 stars would be most appropriate.
