My invoice has one price and my final bill shows a different price, it has an additional $1000 that I was billed for $75 per sheets of roofing (100 sq. ft.) of materials that I was unaware of and this was never communicated to me that extra supplies were required. When I spoke with the business about it, he tells me that "It is what it is" which is very unprofessional. The owner has come out to my home about 4 times and not one time were extra materials mentioned. This was apart of my insurance claim and they are not willing to assist me, the business even contacted my insurance company behind my back, instead of talking to me first. The only so called proof they provided to me was a half of a sheet of the plywood but this was only after my issue. I would like the business to rectify this issue.

Response to BBB Complaint ID: ********

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to this complaint.

The homeowners signed contract (attached) clearly states on page 2 that any necessary plywood replacement would be billed at a rate of $75 per sheet. During the project, several sheets (10) of roof decking were found to be rotted and unsafe, which required replacement. We have also attached photos documenting the condition of the wood and the areas that were replaced.

Contrary to the claim of a $1,000 charge, we only invoiced the homeowner $750 for the plywood replacement, as shown on the invoice submitted with this response.

Regarding the statement that we contacted the insurance company behind his back this is inaccurate. We contacted the homeowners adjuster in an effort to determine whether there was any coverage available for the decking repairs. Our goal was to potentially help the homeowner reduce out-of-pocket costs.

As for the phrase it is what it is, this was used in reference to the unfortunate but necessary reality of replacing rotted decking. The homeowner had acknowledged before the job began that some decking repairs might be needed. We also provided the homeowner with the photos showing the condition of the wood and the repairs made.

      In summary:

The plywood charge was disclosed in the signed contract in big bold letters.
The billed amount was $750, not $1,000.
The repairs were necessary and documented with photos.
We contacted the adjuster to try to save the homeowner money not to interfere with their claim.

We believe this matter was handled transparently and in line with the terms of our agreement. Therefore, we respectfully decline the request for a $500 refund.

      Sincerely,
      ***** ******
