6 years ago I had **** do taxes for me and one had an amendment for tax year 2006 which i owed 34.00 to the state. also 6 years ago i moved out of state and two days before the moved I received a letter from the state stating i owed 2184.00 for 2006 tax year and it was hand delivered to **** that same day and he stated he would take care of it. Moved back in state last year filed taxes for last year and my returns were garnished and received a statement from the state for this 2184.00 for 2006 tax year. Contacted **** and forwarded the documents to him but **** is full of excuse after excuse. All i'm asking is for **** to do his job and back his work. I have no problem paying the 34.00 taxes for 2006 and **** should either take care of whatever problem there is with the 2006 return that he himself completed signed and has power of attorney or pay the 2150.00 difference.

      Business Response

      Date: 06/20/2023

We acknowledge the receipt of the complaint filed with your office by Mr. ***** *******.  We feel the information provided by Mr. ******* to be inaccurate and incomplete.

Due to client privacy issues our response to you as to the work performed for Mr. ******* will be limited.

In August 2015, we were engaged by Mr. ******* to prepare multiple years of Federal and State income tax returns including the year 2006.  Many of these returns were past the three year statute of limitation window which greatly reduces the ability to properly file and resolve incorrect information relied on by the State Department of Revenue but the Internal Revenue Service and State taxing authorities can and may continue to pursue collection of taxes due.

Based on the information provided by Mr. *******, our office prepared documents and submitted responses on Mr. *******'s behalf to the State of Missouri on September 15, 2015.  We can document these responses.

Mr. ******* evidently moved out of the State of Missouri shortly after that time and what information he received or further demands made by the State of Missouri, if any, were never communicated to this office.

On April 17, 2023, Mr. ******* provided this office a notice indicating the State of Missouri had garnished a small tax refund he was due on his 2022 Missouri tax return because of the 2006 tax assessments.  Although we had previously provided information to the State of Missouri, I prepared a response letter on May 11, 2023 and provided additional information regarding updated Federal tax records to clear up the inaccurate data used by the State of Missouri.  I have not received any further information regarding my correspondence.  It could take several weeks to receive further updates from the Missouri Department of Revenue.  We do have an outstanding invoice for these services we provided.

It is the taxpayer's responsibility to maintain proper records of income and deductions for the required tax filing periods and timely file required income tax returns.  We attempted to assist Mr. ******* in meeting his obligations to properly file accurate tax information with the taxing authorities.

If Mr. ******* had records to show he properly filed required tax returns and made required payments including penalties and interest we would have provided his defense to the taxing authorities.  Mr. ******* never provided us with any of this information.  We feel we properly responded to the State of Missouri with the information provided to us by Mr.  *******.

It is unfortunate Mr. ******* blames this office for his failure to accurately and timely meet his tax filing obligations.  We do not feel we share any responsibilities for his failure.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: This Did not even get a 1099 for 2006 until 2015 which was given to **** at that time to  file an amendment. **** does not need any documents because **** has the power of attorney with the IRS, If there is no amendment for 2006bon file that mean **** never file but changed me a fee.

      Sincerely,

      ***** *******
