I called to asked for a Continental brand tire which was quoted at $117 and a chain for my *******. The older gentleman who scheduled my appointment and quoted the price on the tire was not able to give me an estimate of the installation costs. On April 25th, I arrived for a 9:30AM appointment to have the front tire and chain installed on my motorcycle. The tire presented to me for installation was not the Continental tire but an **** tire. The service department clerk marked the price of the tire at $179.49. So I got charged $62.49 extra for a tire that I didn't ask for AND now I have mismatched brands of tires - decreasing the value if I trade the bike in.Second, the service department clerk estimated the chain replacement at 1.5 hours. Upon handing me the estimate he stated, "Sorry, I know the time estimate is high for the chain but we can back that down if it doesn't take that long to install it." Taking his word, I let them proceed, however I started emailing myself when my bike was moved onto the lift, when it was started and taken for a test drive, and when it was parked at completion. The total time elapsed for the tire change AND the new chain installation AND test ride was 1h 14m.When I saw the bike was complete, I returned to the service counter to settle up my bill. I asked the service clerk to back down the time estimate on the chain since it didn't take the estimated 1.5 hours to change it and the tire altogether. He said, "No, uh, uh, there were a lot of parts to remove to change it." This is factually ********* effect I was charged for 2.2 hours of labor when the actual time was slightly less than 1.5 hours. The labor rate was billed @ $139.50 per hour. The bill indicates the same technician performed both the tire and chain installation - so this was not a case of two technicians working on the bike at the same time. Third I was charged $20 for tire disposal when sign says $10 per tire. They overcharged me by $170.14.

I am the older gentleman that you spoke to on the phone prior to your visit.  As I remember, I told you that there are not a lot of tires available in the size that you told me.  I also remember that you told me the size but said nothing about a specific brand of tire.  I also remember that I quoted you $150 for the tire and I processed the order for it on 4/16/2025 at 12:58. Unfortunately we charged you the normal MSRP price for the tire instead of the discounted amount that I told you on the phone. It was a clerical error that happened when we transferred the tire from the parts ticket to your repair order.  Your were overcharged by $29.49 for the tire and we will refund that asap.  We only charged $10 for tire disposal and not the $20 that you state in your complaint.

Like most other motorcycle repair shops we use a flat-rate chart to determine how much time a specific repair takes. The chart we use is provided to us by *******************. We multiply the repair time by our labor rate and this his how we price our repairs.  In this case, the average mechanic should be able to do the job in 90 minutes. The fact that our mechanic can do it faster only means that he has more experience than the average mechanic. It does not mean that we overcharged for the repair.

I have reviewed the business' response and am rejecting it because:
The only reason I didn't decline the chain install is because the service *** said he would back down that estimate if it took less time - which it did. Second, the sign posted on the window frame of the service desk clearly states Tire recycling is $10. The attached receipt shows I was charged $20.

I'll agree to the refund of the price difference on the tire as the service *** did say there was an issue transferring it from the orders desk. However, I do expect that the service *** stand by his word to back down the chain install time. This act alone has already cost Leadbelt a motorcycle sale. I had inquired about the 2023 ****** but given this experience I won't be buying from Leadbelt.

    Sincerely,
    **** *******

My name is ***** ******** and I am the owner of Leadbelt PowerSports.  I wanted to address Mr.******** ********* and our rebuttal.  First off, I want to apologize for the errors on our end and the confusion.  I will not address, nor can I speak to what whomever said what, because obviously I was not there.  However, I can walk you and the BBB through what our procedures and processes should be on this transaction.
A couple of years ago, we implemented selling all of our tires at a certain dollar amount over cost to hopefully increase service work.  *****, our General Manager, the older gentleman, was covering our parts department at that time. ***** quoted the amount of $150.00 which coincides with our policy of selling more tires.  You mentioned that ***** was not able to give you an estimate of the installation costs and that is correct.  Installation and repair cost are all handled by the Service Advisor, for the service department.
On the tire disposal, you are 100% correct.  You were charged $20.00 when you should have only been charged $10.00.  I am not sure how this happened, but it will definitely be looked into so that it will not happen in the future.
Once the estimate was stated, you said the Service Advisor apologized that it was high and could back that down if it didnt take that long.  He confirmed saying that.  However, that is not our policy.  This will be addressed with our new Service Advisor.  *********************** like the vast majority of service departments, work on a Flat Rate Labor Guide.  Here is why the ****************** uses a ************************************************ uses a flat rate labor guide to ensure transparency, consistency, and fairness in how labor costs are estimated and charged.  This guide provides standardized time estimates for various repair and maintenance tasks based on industry data and manufacturer recommendations.
    Key Benefits:
Transparency:  Customers receive clear and consistent estimates for how long a service should take, making the billing process straightforward.
Efficiency:  Technicians work efficiently within the estimated time frames, helping to keep costs fair and predictable.
Quality & Expertise:  The guide is developed by experienced industry professionals, ensuring that estimates reflect real-world repair times.
Fair Pricing:  It helps prevent overcharging and ensures that customers are billed accurately based on the actual work required.
Overall, using a flat rate labor guides helps us provide reliable, honest, and consistent service to all our customers.
Replacing of your drive chain call for 1.5hrs.  If the technician is able to complete the job in an hour its do to his experience and training.  However, if it takes him 2.0 hrs to complete the job it still only charges you the 1.5 hrs.
Before I close this out, I do have a couple of questions for Mr. **************** the tire was presented to you and it was not what you wanted or asked for.  Why did you not speak up then?
Why did you not speak up when you were presented with the incorrect ****?
We could have handled this then, without going through this process.
We strive to be a fun, exciting PowerSports dealership.  You can always question anything and we will do our best to correct it or explain it.  We want to be as honest and fair with all of our pricing.  Also, you can always ask to speak with the General Manager and he would have corrected the issue on the spot.
I am not sure of BBB process on this issue, but I feel I do owe you the difference of the tire $29.49 and the extra charge of the tire disposal fee of $10.00.  Total being $39.49.  As soon as BBB resolves this,I will get the check mailed out to you. Plus difference in sales tax.

Took a motorcycle to Leadbelt Powersports to be repaired. Explained to them that I needed carburators rebuilt and synced and to get the motorcycle running and road worthy. They picked the bike up in April 2023 for a job they said would take 3 weeks to complete after several phone calls and personally going to the business I finally got the bike back in November 2023. I rode it ****************************************************************************************************************** bring it back in. 1 week later they called me and said that it was my fuel pump wanted to charge me another $400 to replace I declined and replaced the fuel pump myself which turned out was not the issue the bike still wouldn't run. Now I'm out over $900 for a job they failed to complete. Further more tried to get me for more money for something that was not the issue. I would just like to get a refund or have the work completed and the motorcycle running and road worthy as discussed. On top of this they didn't even put all the bolts back in the motorcycle the fuel tank was not secured back to the frame was told they didn't know where the bolts were.

This repair was delayed due to the fuel pump not being available through ******* We had an estimate of repairs completed within a week and then we had to set everything aside and wait for the fuel pump. The customer eventually purchased an aftermarket fuel pump and brought it to us to install. We completed the work and **************** came to pick up the motorcycle. Approximately a week later **************** brought the motorcycle back and said that it quit running.  We determined that the fuel pump he had brought to us to install had gone bad and told him this.  He stated that he would take care of it himself. This was early November 2023 and we have not heard anything from **************** until we received this letter from the BBB.

I am rejecting this response because: it was March 14th 2024 when I picked the motorcycle up again from them was not November 2023. November 2023 was the first time I got the motorcycle back after 8 months. Took it back in March 2024. The fuel pump has been replaced twice now.
