We entered into a contract with CJS roofing for a specific dollar amount in Nov 2024. This contract, signed by both parties, guaranteed that dollar amount even if the work didn't get done for awhile. Because of storms and heading into winter, we waited 6 months for the work to be started. When it was time to start the work, *** came back to us and wanted to increase the price by 118%; MORE than double the contracted price. Now, 6 months later, with higher prices in the market, we have to start our search for a roofing company over. This is a clear breech of contract and exactly the kind of thing roofing companies should not be doing.

BBB – Response to Dawn Fuss complaint

In an effort to respect the above customer’s privacy and
to make sure that we don’t disparage her, I will only say this, Mrs. Fuss was
prepaid $24K for her roof and gutters by insurance; all funds up front.  She should use those funds with a roofing
company of her choice to install the roof and gutters.  That is why insurance gave her the
funds.  Our contract clearly stated that
we would match her insurance allowance.
We gifted her several upgrades as well to help use all of the insurance
money on her property; but had the wrong dollar amount of $11,143.00  from a previous contract. This was clearly
the wrong amount as the insurance allowed $24,000.00. Upon review of her
paperwork, the error was caught and we notified her in writing and by personal
phone call.  We gave her the option to
accept or move on, knowing she had the funds to cover the “insurance allowance”.  We never provided a service and no money
exchanged hands. Rather than authorizing the insurance funds for her work, she
chose to opt out.  We did have a price
increase in April for shingles only, but insurance will always look at price
adjustments for their insured if it is due to a price increase across the
    market.
