My grandson had an accident in my car Sunday morning and drove off the road into a deep ditch. I wanted it towed and they said they could not do it. They said it would have to be towed to my yard or the insurance won't pay. The insurance guy told me to just pay for it and they will reimburse me. They wanted $1,690 to tow it. The insurance guy was shocked and said half of that will be robbery. I called *** and told them and they were shocked. The guy at the tow company lied to me. Once it was at their tow lot they hold you hostage and you have to pay before you can get car back from them. They towed it to the body shop and charged me another $75. The body shop paid the $1,690 for the car to be brought to their shop (the body shop). This was all within 3-5 miles.

In response to this complaint; I must state the facts of the issue at hand. Initially the call was dispatched by ***; however, upon arriving on the scene this accident was not covered under our contractual agreement with ***. Therefore, it had to be turned into a “cash call”. The accident occurred on a Sunday and there are no body shops open on a Sunday. It would be a liability for Pippin Towing to drop a customers vehicle off in an unsecured lot. Some body shops have refused service after seeing certain vehicles, which creates more expenses for Pippin Towing. Therefore, it is our policy to secure the vehicle until the next business day when we are able to exchange information and take the vehicle where it needs to be delivered to. This vehicle was delivered to the body shop the following Monday morning and paid for by the body shop. The body shop then assumes liability for the car and collects the recovery fees from the insurance company. This customer incurred no out of pocket expenses and was able to get all of his personal belongings out of the vehicle the same day of the accident occurred. The fees incurred involved using 2 trucks and extra equipment to safely recover the vehicle without causing further damage to the vehicle, storage fees for the 2 days the vehicle was in our secured lot, and a secondary tow fee. It’s extremely important to follow all protocols and protect the customers vehicle in cases like this. The customer paid nothing out of pocket and the vehicle was secured in a secure lot until it was delivered to to appropriate repair shop. Pippin Towing followed all necessary actions for the best interest of everyone involved.

This complaint has a cpl different situations but the same company not sure if it was the same driver. I called ****** *** for a tow sometime in August. When the driver showed up he was unhappy because they had woke him up and he had to drive from Farmington or somewhere around there to the South Side of St. Louis. Once there he was having difficulty maneuvering the alley where my car was located, we tried to assist him and this made him more agitated. Once in position to tow my car I made him very aware that there was no key for the vehicle, reason being it had been stolen. I assumed that he knew what he was doing and I told him that there was a sensor in that if tripped it would lock the vehicle as it has an anti-theft mechanism on it, I was also concerned that dragging the vehicle could mess the transmission up and he said that dragging it the 20 or 30 ft. to the flatbed would not hurt it. After putting it on the flatbed and towing it to the location, he somehow had gotten there before my sister and as she was pulling in he had just dropped the vehicle and when doing so had busted a clip on my front bumper. My sister notified me of this and the next day when I went to look at the vehicle it seemed to be an easy fix and the bumper on the passenger side where it met the fender was just popped out at the top of the bumper and I just pushed it back flush with the fender and it snapped into place. Easy enough fix just a small plastic clip, not costing much at all. After the car had sat in a gated area (Quarry Storage off Hwy. NN in Cedar Hill, MO). Then on Nov. 1st, I believe I again called ****** *** for a tow to Creve Coeur Audi Dealership for repair and again Pippin Towing arrived and hooked a chain to it again and drug it 15 ft if not more and ripped the whole bumper off on the passenger side and putting a whole in what looks to be the frame after he took a pic of it and told my mother and grandmother he wasnt towing it dropped the car and left. I tried to resolve

Additional details are necessary in order to make a determination or before any type of resolution can be given.

I didn't get any paperwork or invoice. The services recieved from Pippin Towing were obtained through a *** call. I'm not sure how to get the information you are needing. The first call was sometime in Aug. 2022 and I'm not sure which account was used for that call it was either ****** **** or ****** ***** I know for sure the second call that they were dispatched to tow my car was definitely ****** ******* account. She was there when the tow truck driver damaged my vehicle.
