On 4/17/23 I paid for summer camp for my two children, a total of $2340, for their attendance June 5 to Aug 18. I paid it all up front to ensure I had someone to watch them while I worked. However on Saturday June 24, 2023 I was informed by email that my kids could not go to summer camp. The camp owner said that a parent complained about my son. I wrote an email and called to speak with the owner about why they were expelled. He never acknowledged my requests, so I took the exact same email to him. Also the exact Monday after I received the email Saturday, me and my sister went to the camp to speak with the owner and told he was not there by the receptionist, but his car was parked in the front of the building. I wanted a refund for the time that my kids were not in camp. Mathematically they were only there for 3 out of the 11 wks I paid for. Fair treatment would be a refund of the weeks they did not attend especailly since I went out of my way numerous times to with him. Also, upon reading the contract it does not state anything about a child being expelled with out reason. It speaks of COVID but that's all. Also, my daughter did not do anything at all, why was she expelled?

    Business Response

    Date: 07/18/2023

    To who it may concern;

Ms ************** enrolled her two children in our 501(c)3 Summer Camp.

She signed a disciplinary policy agreement that states that we can expel children from our camp.

The children received many parent notes and warnings and continued to disobey our policies and cause trouble for our coaches.

In our Camp Orientation we explained that if a child gets expelled from our camp, we are not required to give a refund. However, as a courtesy, we offered Ms ************** a partial refund minus the weeks the children attended. The price of our camp is $137 per week per child for children that do not attend the full summer.

Here is an email that we sent to her on 6/29/23 explaining the calculations of the refund we would give. We sent her a seperation agreement via docusign and she still has not signed the agreement to receive the refund. Here is the email:

    Dear Ms. ******,
We write to provide you with an updated and accurate calculation of the appropriate refund amount in accordance with our established policies and protocols. Please note the following details:
    1. Tuition Calculation:
The 3-week attendance will be calculated based on our Week-By-Week program, which incurs a fee of $137 per week per child. Consequently, the total fee for each child's 3-week attendance amounts to $411.
    2. Non-Refundable Items:
    a. Any used martial arts uniforms and camp shirts are deemed non-refundable.
    b. b. Registration fees are non-refundable.
    c. c. The cost associated with the field trip taken is also non-refundable.
    3. Uniform Cost Inclusion:
The payments totaling $1120 already encompass the additional cost of $50 for the uniform. Therefore, the actual fee for the “Full Summer” Paid In Full Program amounts to $1070 per child.
    4. Refund Calculation:
To calculate the refund amount, we subtract the 3-week tuition fee of $411 from the Full Summer Paid In Full Program fee of $1070. This calculation results in a refund amount of $659 for each child which equals a total of $1318.
We place utmost importance on conducting our operations with integrity and adhering to our established policies and protocols. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and express our sadness as we value our relationship with you and your family. It is our earnest hope that we can continue to maintain a positive and caring association.
Should you require any further clarification or have additional concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We remain at your disposal to address any questions you may have.
    Yours faithfully,
    ****** ******* ***

We strive to over service our members and create a safe place for our kids and coaches. Unfortunately we have to remove certain children that are not obeying our camp policies to support a safe atmosphere for everyone.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.
