1 starAbsolutely a disappointment. These are not repairmen, these are salesmen that have no intentions Of fixing a problem. I have a leak in a 5 year old evaporator coil your company installed. So I understand that the warranty did not transfer from the original owner that is not a problem. The problem isThe coil can be repaired Very simply with a stick of solder and a hand torch. But instead of doing the simple repair, you guys want to charge me for a brand new coil, the text says between two thousand and three thousand dollars. You would think since the coil is out of warranty. You could at least attempt to repair it. And if something went wrong, then, of course, we needed to buy a new coil. Nothing beats a fail. I'd like to try.Would you guys refuse to even try. There are elderly and disabled people in the house that cannot be without air but your technician, instead of fixing a simple problem, left them again without error and refuse to attempt a repair. I understand the level of difficulty in trying to solder aluminum. And if something happened in the process of trying to solder that aluminum, it got melted, I would be a hundred percent on board with buying a new one, and appreciate the fact that you even tried. You should remove the repair out of your description of your company. Because that is not what you guys do. These are all commission based salesmen that did not care about the customer or making repairs. They will lie to old people and handicaps out of their money just to make a sale. I paid the technician his $89 service fee. Even though he did not have the troubleshoot, we provided a video of the exact location of the repair to show the simplicity of the failure. The technician totally ignored the video, totally ignored the problem. And went straight for the sale!Review fromJim M

The ad offering a $39 air conditioning maintenance call is a scam. The website offers available times and a confirmation is provided by email. However the dispatcher ******* will call and decline to provide service for monthsdue to many emergency calls and not enough technicians. Insisting that the company honor the confirmed date gets ******* to offer a date only weeks away. Then ******* calls day of to reschedule 2 weeks out due to many emergency calls. Poor performance presale is an indication of character.Academy Air

3/28/2025 This is my 2nd time hiring Academy Air and it did not go smoothly. 1st they blew off my schedule, that I took vacation for the installation that I was to have done. When a plumber finally showed up and removed my old sink he said that my counter top would not hold the new sink weight, and there was no way he could do my water heater. So I rush out and buy the 1st counter top I could get and came home and installed it that night so the plumber could install the new sink and plumbing. Academy forgot yet again to inform the plumber that he had a sink to install after his work in the bathroom so I had to make yet another call to their offices to get this done. During the install of the new sink the plumber dropped the sink onto the top of my new counter breaking it, but he didn't say a word to either my wife or me. He just caulked over where he broke it. It is noticeably caved in at this point and covered in caulk. Academy had no problem taking my 7K while causing me a day out of work for nothing and a couple hundred dollars of damaged countertopAcademy Air

He provided a satisfying free electrical estimate for the work I needed to be done. 1 starI've been a customer since 1998... and since they have been purchased by a private partnership ****... they have become exponentially more expensive... way over priced for the products and service charges... good technicians, really nice ... but they now are no longer price competitive they want 281$ to replace a 30$ part...that's under warranty...Review fromCourtney M

1 starI am not surprised to see this many bad reviews. I signed up for a 3 year member care plan when I found out I needed a new water heater. They quoted me $3600.00 just for the water heater alone. I found a $500 water heater at **********. I brought them out the next week for water leaking by my laundry room wall by my main stack. They claimed my sewer pipe under my concrete floor was busted. They would charge $4100 to uninstall water heater to move it and dig up concrete to fix pipe and put concrete back in and reinstall water heater. Instead of agreeing to that, I cut into the soggy laundry room wall the tech himself had noticed as well but did nothing about and discovered a HUGE drainpipe leak that had resulted in a LOT of black mold. I had them fix the pipe. By the way, they never applied my member care plan discount, and I'm not sure they ever did on any job they did for me. After they fixed the drainpipe, they never called the inspector office to have them come look at it to close the permit. I had to do it. Guess what? It was still leaking. They came out again and determined my plumbing was just all wrong, it all needed to be replaced cause, get this, there's no way to tell where a plumbing leak might be coming from; it'll cost $5,000. He said he would take another look to try to figure it out but all he did was stand in the kitchen and then leave. I ran some fixtures myself and estimated where the leak was, brought a different plumber in, and he found the leak right where I thought it would be; it cost me less than $200. All of this happened in the space of one month. I called to demand a refund of my member care plan I paid. They gave me "proof" that they had initiated a refund. 3 weeks later, I still hadn't gotten it, so I had to dispute the charge with my credit card company. DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY! All their techs do is try to figure out how to pull the wool over your eyes so they can charge you thousands.Review fromSteve D

1 starIm a long time customer ( over 30 years) that has experienced this company go from excellent to awful. Ever since ***** stepped aside i have seen this family run company slide downhill while growing too fast in my opinion. This resulted in long lead times, very high employee turnover , shy high pricing, mediocre work and a general we dont really care attitude. The customer ********************** girls answering the phones were the lone exception. They were generally pretty good ( especially JENN) !! I feel badly having to post this as i Never have done so previously, but i think its fair all things considered. **Review fromChristine S

1 starPaid a fortune to have new furnace and ac put in. Did a wonderful job other than cost. Have had my unit less than 3 years and had them come to service unit. Great job! Then they came this year to service unit for the 1st this season. The day before they were to come ac unit was not cooling. Young man came out serviced unit cleaned everything and found a leak in a valve. Recharged ac unit and ordered part. They called to schedule repair, saying they had the part. By this time charge was not cooling house. It is around 100 degrees outside, they were suppose to come on wed. Got call at 330 they did not have part. My home is now registering 83 inside. Was suppose to come on mon to replace valve. Person went to get part from manufacturer and found out wrong part. Now I have to wait 5 more days. It is now 90 in my house. All I get is I am sorry. Well I am sorry I ever had the unit installed in my house. This is the 3rd furnace I have had installed in my house over the years and the first one to die within 3 years. Very disappointed. I am thinking of stopping all payment to them till repaired.Review fromMichael L

1 starHighway robbery at it's finest. Tried to charge $22,000 for an HVAC unit and $13,000 for a hot water heater. Avoid these crooks at all costs.
