We contracted with them to have gutters done on our house. When the crew arrived, there was no one that spoke English. I immediately called to voice our concerns as we could not communicate with them. We had originally wanted to salvage the gutters, but understood via them, calling their boss who was not one of the owners of the company. We told him we understood That this wasnt possible because of the way they were put in. I called *** immediately and said I hired their company and *** said I dont work with this crew it is one of my sons. The dish went out why they were here. When we voiced this concern via the translation app they were trying to use he put the ladder up and started fishing the dish wire out of the downspout. Then he shrugged his shoulders and didnt know what to do. He waved bye. When I went to investigate It was noted that they did significant damage to our 2 1/2 year old roof and never said a word to us. Some of the shingles were broken completely off, and they had used a significant amount of caulk to put them back down. Nothing was said to us! When I sent pictures immediately to *** the owner. He sent his partner ***** out. ***** immediately came out, saying how this was their best crew. They just did a major sports players house & often requested. We called dish out and have a roofer, who had to remove the valley for one of the repairs. I now have a 2 1/2 year-old roof with 12 to 14 patches in different areas on the roof! It took us two days and multiple trips to town to have the repairs done and us contacting people to come to the house to do them. There was no way I was letting him ***** who said I have everything on the truck to fix this now touch my roof after this experience. In fact, the roofer who did the roof came out and was in shock. He had to come back the next day with about five people and spend over three hours with two heat guns trying to remove the shingles carefully and replace them.. A $150 discount is a joke!

    Business Response

    Date: 04/21/2025

Our company, Armon Seamless Guttering dispatched a crew to the ********* residence for a gutter installation that we had scheduled for the day we arrived. Our crew was greeted with a question about trying to salvage the gutters for reuse by the homeowners on another structure. The crew started to remove the gutter system by trying to pry the nails out of the gutter hangers, but then realized they were doing damages to the edge of roof shingles. They then stopped and removed to gutters in a way so that no further damages to the edge of the roofline would be compromised. The gutter installation proceeded and was completed the same day.  Mrs. ********* called and said that they had noticed some issues with the roof after the gutter installation. Our office notified Mrs. ********* that we could do a post inspection the next day and no payment would be required until after the inspection would be conducted. We had also never asked for any down-payment before starting the work. Once I was notified that there were questions regarding roof damages, our office reached out to Mrs. ********* to notify her that we would be happy to expedite the post inspection to the same day as the installation, and I made sure to take the inspection on personally. I arrived with in two hours of the original concern regarding the roof damages. Upon arrival I met with both *** and Mrs. ********** *** ********* and I conducted the post inspection together. I agreed that there were damages that were evident from the old gutters being removed. We then determined that the old gutters were originally installed with 3" s**** shank nails, which can be very difficult to remove with no damage to either the roof or fascia boards.  I agreed that since the shingles were damaged by our crew, that we would have no problem either coordinating a roofing company to make the repairs, or allowing the ********* to hire their own roofing contractor if they felt more comfortable with that. They said they felt most comfortable with hiring the original roofing company who installed the roof to make the necessary repairs. I never personally offered to repair the roof damage. I mentioned if their was an issue with any gutters, I would be happy to adress those immediately. We also determined all roofing repairs necessary were at the edging, and since drip edge and ice and water barrier was installed, there was no chance of leaking to occur. I then told the *********' again that we would happily pay for the company they hire to make the repairs.

Next we did a post inspection to the actual gutter system which they said looked great, and also approved of the new installation.

A few days later we received an email detailing the amounts for the roofing repairs, as well as an amount for the satellite dish to be repositioned. We responded by saying we would happily take those amounts ($710.35) off of our original invoice of $1,765.00, as well as giving an additional amount of $150.00 for dinner or whatever they would like to use the discount for as good will for any inconveniences. The response from Mrs. ********* was that it was insult to only discount $150, and pay for the damages. She instead wanted to pay for the damages herself and then have us send an invoice as paid in full for the gutter installation, with no payment for the difference after repair costs were discounted. The difference after the roof repairs, and dish adjustments amounted to $1054.66. Seeing that we made a quick response,  offered to hire or pay for any roofing company of thier choice, and that they were completely satisfied with the gutter system, we did not feel that a discount of $1054.66 would be a fair resolution. We were also never given a real invoice for any of the repairs from the *********' or the roofing company they hired. We still never hesitated to pay for the repairs, buy removing the repair costs from the cost of our original gutter system installation contract. We have tried to be as accommodating as we can considering that we acknowledge the shingle damage was a result of removing the old gutter system. We were only met with the option to either give an excessive discount, or Mrs. ********* would file a complaint with the BBB. We informed the *********' that was their right, and we would still be happy to honor the warranty for the gutters, as well as pay for the roofing damages.

If the roof was repaired by a professional, the repairs would not result in patches. The damages were able to be repaired with shingle replacement. We are still happy to honor our warranty, and will still be happy to pay for the damages resulting from the gutter removal.

    More install issues

    Complaint: 23223235

I have reviewed the business' response and am rejecting it because the information the company is stating is not accurate.

When the crew arrived, they immediately began swinging claw hammers hitting the gutters to remove them.  They NEVER tried to use a pry bar and pry them!  Due to them sending a crew that spoke no English he called his "boss" who was neither ***** or *** it started with an R.  We spoke via phone with him and understood they could not be salvaged and within 3-5 minutes of being on site told not to salvage them and was relayed to them via their "boss" not to salvage the gutters.  We had stopped the work until conversation was over, and the "boss" had said they understood where to install the additional downspout and not to salvage the old ones.   ***** continues to use this as an excuse for their poor removal and why there was roof damage.

A post inspection was never mentioned to us until I called right after speaking with their "boss" and *** said he would come the following day.

We did try to communicate with them via their app throughout the day.

They did not use ladders to remove or install on the back or sides. I had to tell them to get a ladder when 2 of them were trying to rip off the front gutter from the roof while damaging the shingles as they were ripping it straight up!  The only ladder was on the side where they all got on the roof.  They did get one to remove that after I told them to stop and get it.  I also told them to put one on the deck and they did after they had removed the back.    They hung from the satellite dish to remove one of the sections and that is what messed up the dish.

The damages all happened AFTER we told them not to save the gutters!   The old gutters were installed with a 2.25-inch galvanized nail NOT a 3-inch nail.   He stated that we approved the installation, however, I had left and my husband had not approved the work either.

I emailed the invoice from the roofing company with all the other receipts, so they have had invoice and never asked for one in more detail!  I also questioned the caulk job in the corners.  ***** said "that is how you do it".

After seeing the damage and we were on the back deck ***** said that he had everything on the truck to fix this now.   I told him he was not touching my roof!     I did have to go buy the materials to repair the roof and paid the roofer. This was discussed with ***** who agreed that was ok and he would reimburse us.   He said just send them the bills.

After several days of rain, we looked for water damage to ensure that the roof was not leaking after the integrity of our roof was compromised due to the 12 - 13 repairs that had to be made (remember it is only 2.5 years old).  There was a crew of about 5 for 3 hours working on removing and replacing and relacing in shingles.  They had to removed part of a valley and weave it back in.

It was at this point that we then noticed that the downspouts were all installed incorrectly.  They did not use the drops and instead just cut a "X" with a razor knife leaving a 2x2 jagged hole for the water to go down. This makes no sense going into a 3x4 downspout and is a smaller outlet than we were replacing.   We had found a razor knife tip in our backyard where our dogs are, and ***** they do not use those!  Well, they do because that is how they made this super small hole and folded in the metal.    One downspout is hanging past the edge of the gutter. Some of the holes were all the way sloppy caulk/sealant , some half sloppy caulk and some have zero.    (see pictures emailed to them) When questioned he did not answer the caulk/sealant question but said "that doing outlets this way can lessen the chance of debris being held in the gutter's vs an outlet tube". However, he did agree the outlets should have been cut a bit larger to accommodate the 3 x 4 dimensions of the spouts   He would be happy to come back and install the outlet drops.

I am hesitant to have them return to my home due to the damage and untruthfulness and prior issues we have had. However, at this point due to the improper installation, I feel we have no choice. The only way we are allowing them to make the repairs will be if ***** himself does it via a ladder and does not get on my roof!  The ladder must have the kickouts, so they are not resting on the gutters damaging them.  I will be supervising the repairs to ensure they are done correctly, and that no further damage is done.

Again, we have searched and never saw that this is acceptable way to install downspouts, and ***** did not say anything about the outlets being too small on his "post inspection". Had we not questioned it after reinspecting it would never come to light!

We have been dealing with this for many days and have had to now be home for 3 days to have the repairs made.   I did say I would contact the BBB after he said that he would not give us more than an $150 "dinner on us " discount for our inconvenience and the headaches this has caused us. This seems to be a very minimal amount of a discount less than 10%.  I asked for a 50% discount and repair costs reimbursed, and was told he was standing by his "$150 dinner on us"

If this is how you run your company and treat your customers, and this is as you said multiple times "your best crew" I cannot believe there are not more complaints.   ***** also said we no longer being working with *** and only dealing with him.    If he would have come out, I would have never hired them as he clearly does not value his customers.

    Sincerely,

    *** *********
