I purchased a house in November 2023 and bought insurance for the house. I got insurance to cover it and the construction that we're going to do on it. When I got the policy I asked if weather would be covered because we were coming up to spring. They told me no unless they had the underwriter add that to the contract. I told them to add it and they told me that they did.

I then made a claim after hail damage in March and the adjuster said there was plenty of damage Beacon Point said they could not cover me because my policy does not cover hail damage. I pulled back the email where they told me that they would have the underwriter add it and asked why it isn't covered. Their response was "I guess the underwriter did not add it for some reason after all."

I told them that that seemed like an issue on their end and that they need to figure out a solution. Since then I have barely gotten to talk to anybody because they ignore my calls and my emails or make excuses about why the manager is busy. I even tried to go to the location listed on ****** and it is for another business. So I can't even get a hold of them anymore to cancel my policy.

We are not the insurance company for Mr. ***** and we do not have authority over claims decisions.   We advised multiple times that he needs to contact his claims adjuster if he has questions on his claim details.  Due to privacy we can not provide any other details other than Mr. ***** has received legal notice from the insurance company directly about his claim.

Unfortunately, Mr. ***** mentioned to the claims adjuster he has retained a lawyer; per the insurance company we are no longer allowed to communicate on this subject.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

I do not have a lawyer. I mentioned that I was trying to get a lawyer, but I do not have one. The business is now using this as another excuse to not communicate.

I have been paying premiums for insurance since 2012 with Beacon Point I have a car, a truck, a motorcycle, a home owners policy and a jewelry policy. My daughter is going back to school & moved in with us to save money & I called to ask if I should add her to my policy for her car or have her a separate policy since she has some things on her license & just got her driving privileges back. Since she lives in our home Beacon Point said just put her on your policy but she will be expensive. I did that in Nov. 2022. On March 31, 2023 the high winds blew my basketball goal into my car windshield. I called & was told I didn’t have coverage. I looked at my card & it expired 03/07/2023. I checked my app with ********* & it said Paid in Full. I finally spoke to someone at ********* on Monday & they said they did not renew & sent me a letter explaining on 1/22/23. I never received a letter. I finally spoke to Beacon Point & they said ********* did not renew because of my daughter’s driving history. I asked why they did not let me know before it expired. They said they were not notified. They continued to just say that Travers sent me 3 letters. I have not received a letter from ********* at all & ********* told me they sent 1 letter to me & Beacon Point. I feel like this is the first auto claim in over 10 years & what is the use of having an agent if they don’t stand by me. I have paid premiums for over a decade & now I have to rent a car & pay $1038. For my windshield. Plus it took many phone calls to even get an answer as to what happened. Plus, When I called Beacon Point originally & explained what happened they were silent on the phone for about 3 minutes. Did not say hang on, let me check, just silence. Then said “Let me have ****** call you back” that made me feel like they already knew. They should cover my rental & my windshield for sure. That would be the honest & right thing to do considering the thousands they have collected from me over the last decade.

      to me
Thank you so much. I just spoke to another agent who explained that since they did not notify me that my coverage would end they have also put me in a position to loose my good standing for being insured for 40 years. Now it will show that I have had  a 30 day lapse in coverage so I will have higher premiums!
I have never been without coverage in my adult life and they have messed all of that up for my family. Also the agent I spoke to said he is always notified of these things and they should have had a system in place to keep this from happening if they weren’t notified when they added my daughter in the first place.
This is so unfortunate. But I am also thankful that the basketball goal fell into my car otherwise I would have never known so it could have been a lot worse.
Thank you so much for your help

      * Beacon Point Insurance has never received any payments directly from the customer.

*Customer has/had insurance policies with ********* Insurance, a separate company.

********** Insurance made the decision to non-renew the auto insurance policy and sent legal notice as required by Missouri state law directly to insured.

*Beacon Point does not have any authority to change any decisions made by any other legal entities.

*Beacon Point Insurance does not interfere with Legal Notices sent by third party Insurance Companies.

*Beacon Point Insurance is not responsible for damage to vehicles as claimed in complaint as damage was due to wind as customer stated.

*Beacon Point Insurance (agency) has not received any request for assistance or questions from customer regarding a new policy to replace non-renewed policy by ********* Insurance until 3/31.

*If consumer states they did not receive the legal notice sent directly from ********* Insurance they need to contact the correct party that issued the legal notice (********* Insurance).

I am rejecting this response because:

My issue with Beacon Point is that they are my agent. Beacon Point set up my policy with Travelers & Travelers stated that they sent a notice to Beacon point that my policy would not be renewed. I have obtained a copy of the letter that Travelers said they sent to me (which I did not receive originally). In this letter it state “ we are sure your agent has already made you aware of this. Agents are automatically notified first when a policy change is made. Beacon Point did not contact me & so Beacon Point cost me not only the cost for the damage to my car, a rental car but also my new agent stated that he only had 4 days to find me a new policy & get me covered because of the fact that Beacon Point did not notify me. If you are without insurance for 30 days it changes your insurance history & can cause your rates to increase in a significant way. Plus, my history of having insurance for 35 years would be gone!  All of these things are the fault of Beacon Point. I am hopeful they will do the right thing instead of pass the buck. Especially after over a decade of paying my premiums for my 3 cars, 1 motorcycle, homeowners policy & a jewelry policy. I’m disappointed in their response & feel at this point they are crooks! I will not stop! Until everyone knows! Thank you BBB for giving an outlet to let others know that Beacon Point Insurance is a scam! They do not do their part & they do not stand behind you if you need them!
