    I applied for a apartment and paid 35$ application fee. These apartment are supposed to help ********** people.provided by federal government funding.I'm disabled with 10 years if paying rent on time. I didn't get it because of credit score which shouldn't have been a factor. I get denied there but someone can live there driving a ***. It's a shame of how people take advantage of the system taking away from the ones that need it most.

    Dear Mr. *********

    Good day.  My name is ******* ********* and I am the property Manager with Cedar Ridge Apartments located in ******************  I received a letter today addressed to ****** ******* regarding a complaint that was made on Cedar Ridge Apartments.  I would like to advise that ****** ******* is no longer with the company and has not been for several years.  I am unsure where the first correspondence was sent, however it was not received by our office.  Our accurate email is ************************************************************** and the address you have is correct.  Our phone number is ************.  Please list my name as the ****

    This letter is in regard to a complaint ID ********.  It was stated applicant paid a $35 application fee where the application was denied due to low credit score.  The person stated they were upset because we are a ****************** housing but someone with a *** could live here.  

    First, I would like to start with the Federal Housing concern.  We are a ********** Tax Credit Property through MHDC.  We are past our 15 years in the land use restrictions which does relax some requirements.  With that being said, we still follow the requirements.  The applicant screening is the same that has been approved and followed for years.The $35 application fee goes to processing the credit score and the criminal background check.  The minimum credit score allowed is 575.  This credit score has been approved and is made aware at the time application is requested and/or submitted.  If the credit score is lower than that the application is denied as it does not meet the minimum requirements. 

    I would also like to advise that the type of car one may drive does not determine eligibility.  Personal information of tenants is not released to applicants who questions anothers eligibility.  I can assure your agency that the tenant who drives the *** does indeed meet all requirements.  The applicant who submitted this complaint stated, Its a shame of how people take advantage of the system taking away from the ones that need it most. I would like to advise there are a lot of people in our community struggling right now and I encourage all to not cast judgement and falsely state information about someone they do not know.  We are in the market to helping people in accordance to our guidelines.  If they do not meet these guidelines, we send a notification letter explaining the reasoning.

    I hope this information assures you that we have followed all guidelines and have done nothing wrong in assisting this applicant.

    Our policy states credit score must be higher than 575.  Mr. ******** credit score was lower thus we denied the application due to his non-qualifying score. This has been our policy for many years.  Out of courtesy I do advised at time the applicant applies of our requirements so that if they know they do not qualify they do not have to spend the money on the application.  

    I would like to advise the letter previously sent was address to Mr. ******** whom I thought was the BBB employee.  The woman I spoke to today stated it was actually the person who filed the complaint.
