I contracted with **** ******* from Seal Once KC on 4/3/25 who bid the job on our deck for 1883.00 **** is the son of the owner, *** *******.
While bidding the job, **** informed us that after applying the sealant, a stain must be applied. He quoted the price of $700.00 and he would do the staining. I agreed.
A few days later ***** from Seal Once power washed the deck and applied the sealant. ***** didn't use any protection against landscaping, spindles, birdfeeders, etc. Consequently this left the spindles with a chalky white coating and the landscaping a mess.
**** agreed to start staining on 5/3. He didn't show and didn't call. I left a message with the office on 5/4. **** called on Sunday around 4pm and said he'd he be there within the hour. At around 6 pm, he called to say he didn't realize how late it was and promised show on Monday at 10 am. He arrived at 12:30. Before he could stain, the job required sanding which he mentioned in his bid. He left the job about 2 pm.
He arrived on Tuesday around 12:30. He complained about how much sanding there was and asked me to call his dad to let him know. He then started the staining and left around 4 pm.
Arriving mid-day on Tuesday, he completed the staining. He was supposed to apply 2 coats of stain, but didn't. When he was finished, I paid him by check for the $700.00. He looked at the check and said What's this?" He asked me how I came up with that number, and I told him. He wasn't pleased and asked if I could do another 300.00. I did.
After the stain cured, we examined his work and took pictures. Unprofessional to say the least. **** left stain on the house and gutters, empty cans were left of the lawn which burned the grass, he stained the shrubs and perennials, and stepping stones.
I called the owner and discussed the job. He sent ***** back to fix the spindles and said he would try to find someone to finish the job. I have not heard back from the owner.

I talked to ***** about her complaint and sent her another copy of her invoice that showed she did get the 25% discount that was offered in the Home Magazine . I also explained the extra 300 $ that was on the original invoice  was for stain removal and I gave her credit for that because we couldnt get alot of it off . She did contact me about sealant on her spindles and solor light  I sent Alan over to clean it up and she explained he did a good job . As for all the stain problems I explained to her that **** was let go and  does not work for sealonce anymore because of the way he treated my customer was terrible and no excuses for it . I also explained **** has been doing the staining jobs on his own for about 3 years and always had a helper with him and I havent had any complaints  before now . **** was not doing the work for Seal Once company and the staining  was paid directly to him. She did ask if i new any other staining person that could come and fix the mess he left and I told her I would try but had no luck. I asked if she found anyone and she said her and her husband were going to take care of it . I do understand that **** did  work for me in selling the deck cleaning and sealing job but the staining was his job that he sold her on his own and sealonce had no control over anypart of it exept he did work for me in sales and has been fired because of the way he treated them .
