    The local utility company is charging for late fees and our bills are not late - they just posted on the web today and again late fees - they will not remove this small fee and if you rebuke it - they will disconnect your utilities- quoting we are a private owned company we can do what we want - they also receive federal fund for lineheap - they will get those funds and claimed the bill wasnt paid then charge you triple the amount of the bill to reconnect your utilities- and declare that the **************** never sent the federal funds to they get two payments plus reconnect fees and late fees plus they charge a 3$ to send your bill to the Daeoc and then refuse to send it - total rip off scam and robbing the elderly or low income families!

    Regarding the bill that was posted on 08/01/2024, the penalties listed are from the previous months bill in the amount of $5.39.  Those were paid with the previous month's bill, which is why it shows a previous balance of -$5.39.  The charges above those penalties equal $207.20, which is the amount listed under Statement Balance. 

    Our bills are issued on the first business day of each month, with a due date of the 14th of each month (or the following business day if the 14th is a holiday or weekend).  The day after the due date, typically the 15th of each month, we add a 5% penalty.  The last day to pay is the 24th of each month (or the following business day if the 24th is a holiday or weekend).  The day after the last day to pay, typically the 25th of each month, those services are up for disconnection with an additional $65.00 non-pay fee - $25.00 of which is added as an additional deposit on the customer's account.  ************* of Public Works has already printed and mailed a bill and a final notice.  If a customer needs an additional copy, there is a $3.00 charge for a reprint.

    We treat pledges from DAEOC as a promise to pay, so if we receive those pledges prior to the end of day the 24th, the account is not in danger of being disconnected.  For the bill due in July of 2024, we did not receive a pledge from DAEOC.  We do receive LIHEAP payments as well;however, those funds are only available during the winter months.  Those funds are also processed through DAEOC.

    According to our records, this issue has been resolved due to a zero balance.
