  At 79 years of age it seems that I am still learning. In my
  early discussions with CertaPro of Kirkwood/Ladue it appeared as though
  the work I needed done would be in capable hands. It was explained to
  CertaPro that I wanted to know the full amount for all of the work,
  which included the repair of some of the wood trim around the outside of
  my windows that were to be painted. The cost for the repair work kept
  getting pushed back, unanswered. I received the firm cost on the
  painting, but it did not include the repair cost. They were told again
  that I needed a firm cost on all of the work, including the repair work
  before they got started on the project. I explained that I was on a
  fixed income and needed to know the complete cost before they started
  work.
  On the day they were to start work they introduced me to the person who
  would be doing the repair work. After looking at the repair that would
  be needed he said it should not be a problem; just some wood filler here
  and there and a little patchwork that wouldn’t amount to anything.
  Thinking that meant that there would be no additional cost I gave them
  the go-ahead to start work. Turns out the wood filler and little
  patchwork cost me an additional $353.00 above the agreed to amount.
  I begrudgingly paid the amount requested plus the hidden extra cost, but
  I will not be using CertaPro Painters ever again. Nor will I be
  providing the five referrals (two in the Manchester/Ballwin area, two in
  the Wentzville area, and one in Ladue) that I planned on giving them at
  a time when my expectations were at a higher level; before post job
  reality set in. Following are the list of reasons why I am disappointed
  in the way this job was handled:
  1. Not holding to a fixed price as requested and discussed. I could have
  reduced the job size to keep it within budget. This was mentioned
  multiple times as we discussed and walked through the job beforehand.
