We contacted *************************, owner, at Clear Choice Pools in January 2021. We were building a new home and wanted a swimming pool. He assured us that he would have the pool done by the start of the summer season. We gave him the initial deposit of $15,000 he requested. He did not do ANY work until October 2021 despite repeated calls and text messages (most of which he did not respond). He did the final excavation of the deep end of the pool (our builder for our home did most of the excavation). In November 2021 he installed forms for the outside of the concrete walls of the pool. He then told us that the company that was making the metal forms did not have forms for the interior surface the pool walls and that he had to use plywood forms. Consequently, the interior walls were irregular and will require extensive rework so the liner will fit properly (we learned this after hiring a different pool company to compete the work). In December 2021 Clear Choice poured the concrete walls. ***** presented us with a bill for $17,300, which we paid. No work was done until April 2022 when he installed the plumbing and backfilled around the pool with 10 loads of gravel. He presented us with a bill for $8,100 which we paid. He charged us $500/load for the gravel. About two months later the supplier of the gravel came to our door and said that Clear Choice pools had not paid him for the 10 loads of gravel and that if this was not resolved that he would have to file a lien on our home. We immediately called ***** and told him he had to pay for the gravel. He assured us that he personally had mailed a check that day to the gravel supplier. I checked back with the gravel supplier the following week and he had not received a check. I paid the supplier. We fired Clear Choice pools and hired another pool company in August 2022 to complete the pool.
