    I want to know why they are requiring students to buy a laptop for $1,500.00. I have contacted the school and left a message.I want to know why they have to buy a $1500.00 laptop that is not very good quality.

    We appreciate the opportunity to provide clarification on this matter.

    As part of State Techs academic program requirements, students enrolled in certain programs must purchase a specific laptop through the College. This policy is clearly outlined in the Required Instructional Supplies Purchase Agreement, which the complainant reviewed and signed prior to receiving the device.

    The agreement explicitly states:
    -The cost of the laptop is added to the students account, and external laptop purchases do not satisfy the requirement.
    -Students may use excess financial aid or set up payment plans to cover the cost.
    -The laptop comes with a three-year limited warranty managed by the Colleges IT Helpdesk, covering common accidental damage such as drops, spills, and electrical surges.

    The complainant expresses concerns about being required to purchase the laptop and its perceived quality. However, this requirement is in place to ensure all students have a standardized device that is compatible with program-specific software and supported by the Colleges IT infrastructure. This policy was communicated at the time of enrollment, and the student voluntarily agreed to the terms outlined in the signed agreement.

    Regarding the quality concerns, our IT department is available to assess any reported issues and facilitate warranty service if necessary. To date, the complainant has not contacted our IT Helpdesk to request troubleshooting or repairs. We encourage them to do so if they are experiencing any technical difficulties.

    Given that the student was fully informed of the requirement and agreed to the terms, we believe this complaint is unfounded. However, we remain open to working with the student to address any specific concerns regarding their devices performance through the appropriate channels.
