Basler Decks & More was hired to build a lean to on our existing 30 X 40 garage. They damaged our garage and did not complete the lean to correctly. They said they were licensed and insured but when the claim was filed they were not insured for bad workmanship nor the Basler Builds, LLC is current. We have over $20,000 worth of damage to our garage. This amount was given to us by his insurance adjuster. We received a quote from another contractor and it was over $18,000. He has done nothing. We had an attorney to send a letter and he emailed saying it did not pertain to him. We do not have the money to repair our garage and the rain is causing more damage.

    Business Response

The allegations that this client is making are inaccurate. Yes, I was hired to build said lean to. The client paid for materials up front. I was then asked to cease construction mid build while some of the roof was exposed. After trying to figure out what they were upset about and resolve the issue with them personally, they stated that nothing else could be done and they were filing an insurance claim. No labor was billed to the client and material was left on site. My insurance company investigated the jobsite and concluded that only a hydraulic barrel was affected and they were compensated for it. This was well over a year ago. Any further damage would not be due to a lack of workmanship, as I was asked to cease building without a chance to cover the roof adequately. That would be from further neglect from the client. As far as the email from their lawyer, I received a blank email with only the client's names in the subject line and an attachment. The attachment contained multiple stock and bond names and LLC's/businesses for sale for millions of dollars. As this clearly had nothing to do with my construction business and after many attempts to contact this lawyer by phone, I emailed him back and stated this email attachment did not pertain to me. As far as my business name, they hired Basler Decks & More, which is a sole proprietorship. Not an LLC. I am not sure why this seems to still be an issue after they asked me to cease construction and my insurance company already compensated them for what little was affected over a year ago. Any further damage or issues would be from their neglect.

I am rejecting this response because: It is inaccurate. He was ask to stop construction because he was using silicone to repair the roof that should not have been cut off to begin with.  The piece he replaced was not screwed down and blew off.  We hired another contractor to come and replace that sheet.  The insurance has not paid anything yet, but said the oil will be paid but that's it because their adjuster stated the damage was due to bad workmanship.  The adjustor also stated is was $20,000 worth of repair that they have caused.  The insurance took months to review to find he is not insured.  If ****** ****** would like to make right, and repair the damage he done correctly that would be acceptable however his repair of using silicone is not the correct way and is already leaking. We have records and dates of conversations.  We have contractors that have looked it the mess and will testify.  We also have photos.  We just want the garage repaired, correctly, to the state it was in prior.  We are being very fair.  Yes, it has been over a year.  Other contractors were booked and it took so long to get quotes as well as weather etc..  Also his insurance took months to review. Regards,
