The business was supposed to do a land survey
I asked this company to do a land survey for me so i could purchase this farm. I specifically stated numerous times to call me with any questions about the survey. The survey group showed up to the survey location and proceeded their work. The survey document was then sent to the title office for the deed description and then the title office called me for review. How the survey is drawn up by this company is NOT how they were told to survey the location. I specifically stated that I wanted a square or rectangle in the corner of the property to build my house on and the survey company put a triangle in the location. I attached the PDF File of their survey. So, i called the Cleaver and Associates and they said for $800.00 additional money they will fix the issue, on top of quoting and issuing an invoice for $1,200. making the total invoice $2,000. Bottom line is, I hired them to do a job for me, with the understanding that it would cost $1,200 and then they did NOT do the job right and Cleaver and Associates said for more money they will fix the issue. I sent a check for $1,200 because I pay my bills, but i feel like I paid for something and didn't receive the proper, professional and quality work. I would like to get my money back. After talking with the owner of the company, the office clerk and the owner seem to think it is my fault the job was not done properly.

      Business Response

      Date: 05/12/2025

To Whom it may concern: It seems *** ***** has memory
issues. In reference to the 1,200 dollars *** ***** stop payment on that check.
In reference to the work we performed both our Admin and Field Personnel
thought a triangle was the shape *** ***** desired at no time was a rectangle
or square mentioned. When I spoke to *** ***** he assured me he always pays his
bills, which I now doubt, I informed him stopping payment on a check in
Missouri is a felony and will be turned over to the PA in Macon County. The
additional work required is due the change in the boundaries he now desires.

This problem could have been avoided had *** ***** simply
been at the site when the Field Crew was there. *** ***** was contacted the day
before by our Admin and the day the work was being performed by our Field Crew.
We can’t do any more for a client than that. It is now up to *** ***** to resolve this issue and
      avoid additional actions.

      *** *****

      Customer Answer

Also, just some more added information that I didn't get inserted in the response to the complaint, I did receive a call from the "field crew" the day the field crew was in the area of the survey, but was informed that he was only looking for the landmarks and that there was nothing for me to do at this moment. Then, ***** at the Cleavers office told me on the phone later that week, after the field crew done their work, I would then send a payment for the amount of $1200, and she would send the survey to myself and the abstract office. In which the abstract office received the survey, and they too thought the survey was absurd, so they forwarded the email containing the survey to me as well for me to inspect. I was not contacted the day prior to the field crew arriving or I would have made arrangements to meet with them at the survey site. (I have the phone call log to for proof) Also, after further questioning many people around the area, including paid elected officials about their survey experience and referrals, 99% of them stated that they have had bad experience with Cleaver and Associates also. Had Cleavers fixed the survey for the amount that I was quoted, ($1,200) instead of being told for more money (additional $800) it would be fixed, I would have gladly paid the $1,200 but I don't feel that it is fair to quote someone a price and then upcharge because their work is unsatisfactory to myself and the owner of this property which we are in the process of purchasing and is not how it was instructed to be completed. But once a business gives a quote, they should however stick with that amount that they have quoted/requested whether or if they bid/quote short on the task at hand. However, with that being said there were and are WHITE flags marking the projected Boundry line that I anticipated for the survey to help with location of what I had instructed for the survey to be completed.

I have stated this once before, but after talking with numerous people in an office that deal with this line of work, which will remain anonymous, of this situation, it is very possible that the survey was done from behind the computer screen and NOT in field work completely as the survey should have been.
