Paid $400 for puppy transport from breeder. I received a puppy from Puppy Travelers on Tuesday afternoon. He appeared thin, and the transport driver told me to check him for ticks because they had already found two on him indicating he had been exposed to parasites during ************ Thursday, the puppy began coughing sporadically. That night, his symptoms worsened persistent coughing, lethargy, and thick mucus discharge. I took him to the vet on Friday where he was diagnosed with a likely respiratory infection or pneumonia. He was immediately put on antibiotics and is being monitored closely. The vet strongly believes the illness originated during transport. This is consistent with numerous poor reviews of this company that report puppies arriving sick some severely, others fatally.Additionally, the puppy was covered in some type of deodorizer or fragrance spray upon arrival, which I believe was used to mask odors from unsanitary conditions. This, paired with the tick exposure and now a confirmed infection, suggests gross negligence in maintaining health *************, my healthy adult dog has begun vomiting and may have contracted the illness as well. This experience has caused emotional distress, potential cross-contamination, and significant veterinary costs.Desired Resolution:A formal investigation into Puppy Travelers transport conditions Policy or protocol changes to prevent future incidents Reimbursement for medical expenses Removal or penalty if violations are found

Puppy Transporter handed me a dying puppy which my friend then took directly to the vet who recommended going to the vet hospital where they tried desperately to save this 2 lb puppy that was in a crate in a van without being allowed out for 36 hours. Rhe vets tried for 2 days to hydrate the puppy and save her. She had seizures and recommended euthanizing her after 2 days of attempting to save her. The transportation people told me they would never have taken a sick puppy on their van; thereby confirming their negligence caused her death. they will not reimburse us for the emergency vet bills that totaled over $6,000. I want them reported. I also want reimbursement for the vet bills.

    Business Response

    Date: 12/21/2022

On 10/16/2022 ******* ******* ( pick up agent for Puppy Travelers ) received 2 Cockapoo puppies from ********** ****** to be delivered to **** ******* in New York. The Puppies were picked up in what appeared to be in good health according to the driver and the breeder. The puppies were then transported to their destination. The buyer **** ******* looked the puppies over upon delivery and signed the waybill stating the puppies were accepted in apparent good order and condition. The driver took a photo of two people holding the puppies showing that they were not in dire distress as stated. Puppy Travelers arranged the pick up and delivery for 2 puppies going from Missouri to New York from *********** ****** to **** *******. The Transit van the puppies were in has water bowls and feeders that are checked and filled at least every 3 hours or as needed.  I spoke with the driver, she said the red sable puppy showed no signs of hypoglycemia, nor did the merle puppy. She did notice that the red sable had a bit of eye discharge. That was it. Puppy was not in poor health at the time of delivery per the driver or the buyer.  Puppy Travelers strives to ensure puppies have safe, happy , healthy travels!
**** ******* is the buyer, the person who paid Puppy Travelers to arrange delivery. There is a price break in shipping cost for getting 2 puppies to one person.  Point being either the breeder *********** or the buyer **** worked our cost system from the start .  Puppy Travelers has no record of arranging delivery for ***** ******, which the vet bills states is the owner of the red sable cockapoo Microchip number ending in ****. As the Missouri State health certificate shows *********** ****** shipped and sold 2 cockapoo puppies from the same litter to **** ******* to receive a "shipping discount". This is against USDA regs to falsify health certs and I highly believe this is what has transpired here.
I would also like to note Puppy Travelers has not heard any health matters regarding the other Cockapoo microchip ending **** "litter mate" to the red sable cockapoo . The two puppies also were transported in the same kennel as well. One would be led to believe that if food and water was not offered then we would have 2 puppies with issues. Not the case. Take a look at page 16 of the patient history report. In the plan it states "could have been stress that caused her not to eat or drink".
Puppy Travelers take complaints seriously! It is a horrible matter regarding this one! After looking into the details of this I do not believe Puppy Travelers or any of its affiliates was at fault.  I do know the Puppies had plenty of fresh water and food offered to them. I do know the puppies arrived in apparent good condition to the buyer. After the fact they were delivered, I do not know what transpired.
I have attached all the records we received in the matter.
