I was approached in early August of 2021 by ********* regarding his wishes to let him bring his car to my shop to have an overdrive transmission installed into his "former road race car" 1976 Corvette. The car was very dilapidated and worn out with several notable preexisting issues including multiple fluid leaks and dangerous electrical malfunctions. I told him I wouldn't normally bring interested in a project like that but reluctantly agreed to amidst his continual persistence. I had informed Mr. **** that the 700R4 overdrive automatic transmission I recently subcontracted to have built for another customer vehicle in my shop was nearly $5000 before installation labor and fluid to install, etc. to which Mr. **** quickly informed me that exceeded his budget. A few weeks later, I found a preowned transmission for sale on ******** marketplace for $1000 from an unrelated third party, tagged ********* (he goes by different names online versus in person) in the for sale ad, expecting him to handle the transaction entirely. He said it sounded like a reasonable solution and asked for me to pick it up if he brought me cash in advance to pay for it, and asked me to source the cheapest torque converter i could find. I agreed, based solely on Mr. ****** consistent comments about how much he valued our friendship and convinced me we were "friends" and I found a generic converter at a large online retailer that would with the $1000 transmission (which retails for about $3000 new), which was impressive during the supply chain issues the entire country was currently effected by.
This man knew the transmission appeared to have never been installed but was dusty from sitting and was potentially remanufactured decades ago and could have sat on a shelf since then. No warranty was ever discussed, offered, or implied. Upon installation, several leaks were located and dozens of labor hours accrued towards attempting to alleviate the majority of them. After exhausting all efforts I could justify in this regard and only charging the customer for a mere portion of hours and at significantly discounted labor rates, I asked Mr. **** to pick up his car. Unrelated to the transmission situation but warrants mentioning among his claims of spending approximately $12,000 with my company; throughout the entire process of the car being in my shop, Mr. **** continually stopped by several times a week talking about how excited he was and how much he loved the work we were performing for him and how great everything was, and he added multiple other tasks to our lists. This included but is not limited to an entirely custom built exhaust system with electronic cutouts and custom side-pipes, a new electric vacuum pump to assist the poorly operational braking system, aftermarket seats that were entirely too large and unsuited for such a project requiring days of custom fabrication work and modification, and other various things as time went on. He also had multiple other vehicles in my shop that contribute to the amount he claims was spent as he tries to imply it was all regarding the transmission he's unhappy about.
He knew the transmission leaked when picking it up but wished to drive the car anyway, and a few weeks later brought them back my attention. I expressed how the shop was even busier than the last time I let him jump the line to have his projects in the shop, but could take another look if he could wait a couple weeks- to which he replied he'd take the elsewhere.
I asked him to discontinue conversations regarding business on my personal cell phone that he claims was on a business card I gave him, which is a number that has never been on any business card of mine, ever.
He claimed he called and never got a response, but in fact never called, not once.
He was removed from my ******** friends list after slandering my business on social media, but was never blocked or banned from the business page- although he claims he was trying very hard to reach me with no luck doing so.
He claimed his number was blocked from my business number, but text messages were always replied to expeditiously.
He also sent the same picture to me that he attached to his complaint, stating it was days after being parked, not an hour as stated in his complaint.
The complaint also states something he made up about "on time, and detailed if it doesn't work he guarantees it!", which, sounds very appealing, but was never something said or written by me or my company in anyway.

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:I have paid for work to be done that has yet to be looked at, discussed or finished regarding my faulty transmission. I am also just now hearing that the transmission that Custom Auto-Wire Solutions put in my vehicle came from **** **** ****** ***** and already had issues and leaks, however when Custom Auto-Wire Solutions approached me about knowing a friend of his that had a freshly rebuilt transmission and was selling it for $1,000 Custom Auto-Wire solutions said he would vouch for it and knew it was in great working condition and here we are and it was faulty, junk and he purchased it off of market place and picked it up it's on my invoice. I never talked to or met anyone from **** **** market place Custom Auto-Wire Solutions did and Custom Auto-Wire Solutions not only picked it up but charged me on my invoice for it. There's not been 1 time that I was made aware of it's issues. My car hsd no issues going on with it that Custom Auto-Wire Solutions has described, the seats that I chose to put in it and have Custom Auto-Wire Solutions put them in are NOT the issue. Money was never an issue as Custom Auto-Wire Solutions knows this. Custom Auto-Wire Solutions was paid upfront $2,000 in cash before I took my car up there. I am only seeking for a refund or solution to this problem. I have all the invoice's showing that the car alone was around $12,000 that is not including other work done to anything else. As far as Custom Auto-Wire Solutions asking me to pick up the car that didn't happen either as we are both in the same parking lot, he drove my car to my office when he was done. We were and are still friends in my book I have always stopped down at his shop to just talk or discuss the progress of my car or any others in there. Custom Auto-Wire Solutions motto for business was quality over quantity and that he guarantees it. Since day one I have always called Custom Auto-Wire Solutions cell phone about anything even a text or on **** **** messenger then once i brought up the issues with the transmission not only did he block me on all angles of communication he fired the guy that was working on my car right after i brought the issue to his attention that my transmission was leaking, that's kinda odd! If anyone was told that the transmission was faulty, leaked and didn't work right no body would buy that and neither would I it just doesn't make sence. I am only unhappy about the transmission and it's leaks. The torque converter that I asked Custom Auto-Wire Solutions to install was 2500 stall and Custom Auto-Wire Solutions did what he wanted, witch cost me $380.00 when a cheap one would have been $160.00 I have called, text, sent him an email to his business and I was blocked and could not get a hold of him. A man of business would reply or reach out in a way to communicate and resolve the issue, but in this case I was avoided and still getting avoided and no contact has been made back until I reached out to BBB. At the time that I had taken my car to Custom Auto-Wire Solutions we had been talking for weeks and he was telling me how slow he was I asked him if he wanted a project to work on as he enjoys working on older cars, never did I think it would have turned into this. He's worked on other things for me and I've not had any issues about it but this and the faulty transmission he put in my car without telling me it had issues. Business is Business my personal feelings haven't gotten in the way of any of this and for a man to be so childish and not evven give me the time or respect to get this fixed is just flat out wrong and NOT ion any business way to handle a matter such as this.
Sincerely,

My contact with BBB was NEVER intended to resolve this issue but rather to warn others. Friday after my response I received several harassing text messages concerning the leadership of the church I pastor and the ability of the board of elders to follow the holy spirit. This stoops to a new low in professionalism, this has always been about defective parts, faulty workman ship as it is to this day. My final words on this matter.Business Response

Wow, so much fiction.
The ******** marketplace ad still exists where ****** internet alias "**** ****" was tagged by me, to which he replied telling me it would work and asked me to pick it up and bring it to my shop if he were to bring me some money beforehand. He apparently doesn't recall the actual happenings, because sharing the link to this very Marketplace ad via ******** Messenger was the very beginning of the entire 2 years worth of dialogue between his ******** account and mine. His private message response to the link was similar to that in the ad: this one fits my budget, can you handle picking it up for me if I bring you cash beforehand...
Next: the car was absolutely disastrous upon arrival- filled with dozens of safety hazards, leaks, broken parts, and system failures. He even mentioned that the car had sat unattended for several years because of a divorce related dispute before bringing it to me. Anyone who knows cars will tell you the worst thing for them is to let them sit.
Next: money was always an issue- hence the reason he waited until a cheaper alternative was located when he refused to spend what my other clients do when they want a new transmission to perform like a new transmission. I could spend a lot more time citing the examples in which his financial issues were brought to my attention, but that's not the guy I am.
I did deliver the car to his office, after he failed to pick it up and I could no longer store it for free inside my busy shop. My next customer had already dropped their vehicle off, and I needed to make room in the shop for a profitable project.
Next: I still never have used the word "guarantee" and would never do so on used parts- no matter how much this man throws the word around. It has never been a part of my motto no matter how many times he says it was. Still not true, never has been.
Next: Once I asked for the after hours harrassment on my personal cell phone number to stop, all communication stopped. He never once tried to call or text from that point forward. Again he must be having trouble recalling the actual events, but asking to delete my personal number from his phone in no way meant he was unable or unwelcome to call or text the business number that in fact IS on my business card.
Next: I was asked to source the cheapest torque converter we could find available, and got the very last one under $700 listed available for the application by the country's largest aftermarket parts supplier amidst the nationwide supply chain crisis. No specifications were ever provided, just cheap. Again, it was never marked up 100+ percent, nothing I've ever sold as a business has been. I only marked it up enough to cover my legwork in locating, ordering, and taking delivery of the converter after any taxes and shipping charges- standard procedure by most businesses in this line of work that he's obviously not at all familiar with.
Next: no further attempts to reach me were ever conducted on the business phone number. He drives past my shop at least 4 times every day and not once did he stop to talk to me like an adult, even after threatening me and telling me I'd regret not letting him get his way. The only attempt to further communicate was an email he sent several weeks after telling me he didn't want to wait in line and was disappointed but was just going to take it elsewhere. That email went to my spam folder and I didn't even know it existed until I was made aware of it while reading about it in his BBB complaint, which then prompted me to search the spam folder.
