On Oct. 10, 2023 I paid Champs chimney service to clean and sweep my chimney. the billing statement says clean, sweep and inspect chimney and he stated unit in compliance with all current code and regulations. On Jan 19, ************************ the fireplace which filled my home with smoke so I had to put it out with water. I reached in to pull the flute towards me to open it but to my surprise it was gone. After the embers went out, I got my flashlight and found that the flute was moved to the far right of the fireplace. Jan 20, 2024, I contacted them and told them what happened. Jan ****************** and said he may be able to come Jan 21. Stated he could come Jan 22 at 5:30 or will let me know if something changes. I contacted him Monday to say I was home all day and he said ok. Jan 23. I contacted him to say I didn't hear anything. He said he got covered with another job and to send him a picture, which I did. I explained I need my fireplace to lower heat costs. I thought he was stalling and I felt desperate and wanted my fireplace to work so I asked will he charge me a fee. he said if he have to bring tools yes and we can come to agreement before he go any further. He has stopped responding. The fireplace was in working order and just needed cleaning and sweeping. Now it doesn't work. Why do I have to pay for something he moved or did incorrectly? What happened to guaranteed work? I would like for fireplace flute to be useable. As of today it won't move at all. Its stuck and has been moved out of its original place. I tried ******* to fix it myself unsuccessfully. I am a senior citizen and utilize my fireplace to keep warm and keep my heating bills down, now I cannot use it at all. Please help. This is not customer ********************** and I felt unsafe trying to get the smoke out of my home when I tried to light a fire and could not find the flute. On the receipt he stated the fireplace was ready for use and I can't use it.
