    I received a gift card for The Great American Dive Company in the amount of $175.00. This was purchased 7/14/23 and given to me as a birthday present on 7/24/23. I planned to use the money to service my gear after I returned from a dive trip at the end of November 2023. The owner, *******************, passed away 11/30/23, and this was posted on the company's ******** page on 12/1/23. I tried calling throughout December, thinking that the answering machine message would be updated with the date the store would reopen. At first, the phone would ring, but the voicemail was full so I was unable to leave a message. A few weeks after that, the phone changed to a fast busy signal, and then a message from ******* that the call could not go through. I have gone to the store a few times, but the door is locked and the lights are off. There was no message on the door about a reopening date, or who to contact to reclaim gear that had been purchased or sent out for repair. The ******** page has not been updated since 12/1/23. The website has been taken down.

    We are not the Great American *********.  We are Great American Divers.  When I closed business after the owner's passing in November of the Great American ********** we never advertised that we would be opening up under that name.  We did let customers know we were opening ********************************************* Divers and at that time we never advertised it would be under the Great American ********* because we knew it would be under probate.  

    Any complaints regarding the Great American *********. would have to go through Probate Court to file a claim against his estate.  We are not responsible for his outstanding debt.  We did give the letter she sent us to the probate attorney and he is aware of it.
