My Husband contacted I-44 for an airbag replacement. The work was completed and my husband left. The following day the airbag blew and put him down again. ******* with Accounts Payable stated there would be a full refund of the $385 because THEY INSTALLED THE WRONG AIRBAG. We also paid for return shipping for the item with added insurance, NONE of which was reimbursed, for a problem they could have solved by putting on the correct part. When I received the check for $260.00 I immediately contacted ******* with accounts payable, who THEN stated there would only be a refund for the airbag. Negating the fact that had the whole job not been incorrect, there wouldn't have been a problem in the first place. When I asked for the insurance information to file a claim, she stated they would not be providing that information. When I asked for her supervisor, she stated she didn't have one and that she ran the ****************** ********** payable".

After reviewing this document, this information in not valid. The settlement has already been taken care of the day that the owner operator and his wife requested a refund. ******* is not in charge of the accounting department. In fact, she is the parts manager. It was mentioned on a recorded line, that the shipping of the airbag would be at the companies expense as I-44 Truck Center was already issuing a FULL REFUND. The insurance information was not provided, due to this account already being taken care of with again a FULL REFUND! ******* is only in charge of the parts department and DOES NOT run the accounting department. I think there might have been some miscommunication on that issue.

After speaking to the owner operator himself as well as his wife, I-44 Truck Center has issued a full refund in the amount of $385.00 via checks through ***** There were two separate checks written. One for $125.00 and one for $260.00 Please see the attached documents.

Spoke with the owner operator today 5/7/24 in regards to the checks that he received and he did acknowledge that both checks have been received.

      Better Business Bureau:

I would also like to notate that the FULL REFUND was not issued until AFTER the complaint was made. Dates and times are be available to prove as much, also noting the different dates on the checks themselves. The business had no intention of providing the FULL REFUND until multiple reviews and complaints were filed. The business then began calling us requesting the reviews be removed or they wouldnt be issuing a refund. Which should be on a recorded line as well. The initial review/complaint was valid, but has since been resolved. ******* did state that the only supervisor above her was the owner, that should also be on a recorded line as well. All of the information in the initial complaint was true and valid at the time of publication.
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

      Sincerely,

      *******************************

On 11/16/22 I-44 towed my semi without removing the driveshaft resulting in catastrophic damage to my transmission, costing almost $7000.00. Removing a driveshaft for towing is a standard industry practice. It also is posted on documentation on the manufacturers website that the driveshaft is to be removed for towing and also the damage that occurs from failing to do so.

We're so sorry this customer had problems and understand your frustration. After all, the driver went 765 miles to his terminal and then experienced valid problems; however, we know that there were no issues during the test drive, and we were in contact with the driver the following day. None of these issues were mentioned.

*****, the customer driving the unit, had made several comments to staff about how this unit is constantly breaking down and costing her money every week. She stated that she can't afford these repairs because her father died approximately 6 months ago, and she had been busy taking care of him before he passed away. Looking after her father forced her to take 4-6 months off to look after her dad. Also, ***** stated that she could not afford to stay in the motel, due to her small income.

*****’s boyfriend (and mechanic for the unit) was aggressive and even verbally abusive to our staff. He told them repeatedly how to do their jobs, how his business was suffering due to waiting on parts from our dealership, parts he needed to fix *****'s truck. In 35 years of service, we have never had a complaint about towing or transmission failures. Also, it is our protocol that the driveshaft is dropped on every truck, no matter what year. In short, I-44 Truck Center and Wrecker Service will not be responsible in any way for any defects to *****'s transmission on her own truck. There was no negligence on behalf of I44 Truck Center or any of its personnel on the work that was provided.

We have attached a screenshot of our dispatch reports with pictures that was provided at the job site.

      Respectfully,

      I-44 Truck Center...
