A few months ago I had my **** valve replaced worked only a week. I have also had other work done, but each time they do not fix the **** issue. I have been told to replace all of my tires, instead of looking into the matter. This has been on going each time I take my vehicle there, I make sure that I include this issue into all of the other repairs. Each time they have my truck, it is kept for more than 8 hours, without the **** issue being addressed.Business Response

On Wednesday February 7, 2024 I took my vehicle to Fairway Automotive on S Kingshighway in ************************* due to it running hot. I received a phone call from ***/ ***** the next day stating that I may possibly need a new engine. I contacted my warranty company and my warranty company needed to get information from the mechanics. Overall the mechanics at Fairway automotive did a diagnostic and removed cylinders from my vehicle from what I was told they determined that I needed a new engine. My warranty company and Fairway Automotive could not come to an agreement in regards to the price that Fairway Automotive were trying to charge therefore I had my vehicle towed to the dealership. But before I had my vehicle towed Fairway charged me over $473.14 for the diagnostic and for removing the cylinders. When my car arrived to the dealership on February 14, 2024 they did my diagnostic and concluded that the only thing that was wrong with my vehicle was the thermostat. They replaced the thermostat and my vehicle was ready for me to pick up on February 15, 2024. Today is February 26,2024 and my car has been driving perfectly. No new engine was replaced in my car non whatsoever. When the mechanics at Fairway Automotive was notified of the misdiagnosis that they did they did not refund what I had to pay to get my car out of the shop. ***** even had sense enough to apologize for the emotional and financial stress that they put me threw. The week that my car was in the shop due to Fairway Automotive misdiagnosing my car I had to pay out of pocket for a rental that I would not have needed if they would have did everything right when I took my car there. I also was in a lot of emotional distress and had to call off from work for about two days due to the mechanics at Fairway Automotive telling me that I needed a new car. I was also told that "I should just get a new car due the cost and labor of a new engine." Im seeking to file a complaint and warn others of Fairway and a refund.Business Response

I can completely understand her frustration as her warranty company would not cover the entire cost of her repair. We spent many hours on the phone with them (CNA, her warranty company) and tried to get them to cover the entire cost less deductible to no avail. I can see why she is upset but I believe it should be directed at the warranty company and not us.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
The company Fairway Automotive is still not taking accountability for the fact that they are the ones that misdiagnosed my vehicle. The mechanics at Fairway Automotive told my warranty company that I needed a new engine. I had to pay out of pocket for a rental the whole time my car was at their shop because Fairway Automotive are the ones who said I needed a new engine, not my warranty company. The mechanics at Fairway Automotive also made me pay for the misdiagnosis that they did. My car was towed to the dealer and the dealer fixed the thermostat. That is the only thing that was wrong with my car. I had no problems with my engine. It was the thermostat the whole time the Mechanics at Fairway Automotive were trying to get money for a new engine.
Sincerely,

Here is the inspection link: *********************************************************************************
As indicated, all of our testing led to a thermostat that was operating correctly, a head gasket that was blown and scoring on the internal cylinder walls. The warranty company send an inspector out who also agreed with our findings. We understand there was a temporary repair done to this vehicle and thats why you believe we misdiagnosed it. In the future, these hidden issues will reappear and you may be out of warranty at that time. We feel we would be doing you a disservice if we only did a temporary repair.

I am rejecting this response because:
You cannot temporarily repair a bad engine. Once again, these mechanics are playing games. They misdiagnosed my car and tried to make me get a brand new engine that I did not need. A brand new diagnosis was done on my car by the dealer and nothing was wrong with my engine. It was the thermostat.
Sincerely,

Back in early June, I had a flat tire and needed to get a new one so I could get to work the next day. I went to fairway automotive on a kingshighway were they told me I would need a new rim and a new tire. They kept my car for a few days without any knowledge on what was going on. When I called back up there, they said I needed a new rim and tire and could not get my car unless that was complete. They told me it will only be $92 for the used rim and $50 for the used tire. When services was done I was charged $950 for just putting on the rim and tire. Just recently I went to get my car checked and it was said that the wrong tire was put on my car and could’ve cause a very bad accident because my tire was all jacked up. The person fixing my tire said I was
Lucky to be alive. So not only was I over charges I was also given the wrong tire. So I will love a partial refund and the correct tire .Business Response

That is not true as all authorization is done electronically by the customer. I attached the summary which shows ****** viewed her estimate at 2:59 and approved at 3:03 for $958.19. The assumption that she thought it was $90 is simply not true at all, see attached summary.Customer Answer

They gave me the wrong sized tire on top of overcharging me. I have pictures of this. They didn't say holding the car was a charge. Nothing adds up to $958.00 for one tire that is used and one rim that is also used.Business Response

There may be some confusion on Miss ****** part. As you can see by the summary, she provided online authorization $959.18 at 3:03pm. The wheel itself is used as discussed with her to help save some money but the tire is a brand new one with 0 miles. Also, her vehicle was dripped off on May 30th, the estimate was approved on May 31st. The statements of us keeping her car for a few days without her knowing or her not knowing the price is not reflected in the attached data. She received an estimate the day after drop off and the price she paid is the price she provided online authorization for.Initial Complaint

I took my car there for repair knowing what the issue was. I showed them paperwork of the issue. They placed a diagnostic scanner on my car and told me what i told them. I told them that I had a warranty and the guy estimated my car repairs and stated that my warranty would cover it. My car was there for 4 days. I drove my car there. I called to check on it for them to say it was the timing chain. They estimated that I would red a new motor and it would cost $16000. I told them that I would take my car elsewhere because that was ridiculous and was also advised by my warranty company. I started to feel like I was being taking advantage of but I really felt that way when they changed me $800 just for looking at it. They are over pricing their services and over pricing parts. I could have bought a new car for that price. After reading their reviews, they do this a lot. Now I’m out of $800 and my car is still not fixed.Business Response

The engine for her vehicle is very expensive. We did agree with her that she could get a vehicle for cheaper than what the repairs would cost, and we advised her to do just that. Her warranty company is AUL, and her complaint should be directed towards them. She does have a warranty but they were not covering the cost of repairs, although we felt they should have. The reason for the charges was the warranty company had us to break down the engine to failure to find out if it would be covered or not. That was at the customer's expense. She was aware of this and approved it digitally. She is correct, the testing was roughly $800 but we discounted that to $477. I understand her frustration but think it's directed at the wrong company.
