I needed a replacement shower because I knew the old tile one was leaking. But Bathfitter recommended Champion Flooring. The guy they sent later turned out to be a salesman, who made an appraisal of the project and sent me a contract. Champion is not capable of doing the job. The so-called work went like this: Day 1, **** demanded (after spending a lot of time talking to Fr. **** on the phone referral to a plumber because he couldn't get the turn-off valves to work. I had Roto-Rooter do it for $737.08, although I could have done it with a pair of plyers--**** said ************ had said on the phone I shouldn't be allowed to do anything to the valves. Day 2, **** discovered Black Mold. If they couldn't handle mold, that should have been identified by ************. Nobody since the Black Mold diagnosis by **** has worn a mask; and the Champion crew should have been ready to do remediation anyway; they left a mess instead. I will not accept ***************** in this house. I should not pay for the hours **** spent on the phone with **** telling him why he couldn't do the job. He also left up a plastic barrier, held up only by masking tape which could not have lasted long. Champion's recommended mold remover, **********, said it would take weeks before they could do anything, so I had to take it down and put my door back in place myself. When the real work was done, I saw no barrier put up and no dust spread. Champion took out little of the old tile and never did the plywood or laid tiles. All they did was remove the commode (put it in the shower) and the vanity (put it in the small bedroom I use as a library with some blackened wood--infected by their standards). Last time I talked to ************ I asked for a full refund of my deposit and that some one other than **** pick up the tiles they abandoned. He said he'd have to talk to the owner. I have not heard back from them. Champion never could do the job and shouldn't have offered a contract. They only did damage.

We are genuinely disappointed when any customer is not completely satisfied with our efforts. However, we are very capable of doing the work in your home that we were contracted to perform. We dont do any plumbing work, such as replacing shut-off valves that are not working. Nor do we do mold remediation. Our technician correctly identified that the valve shut offs in your bathroom were not working. You responded correctly by having the shutoffs replaced and we went back to work the next day. Unfortunately, during the demolition process we discovered black mold. Obviously, the black mold was not visible until it was exposed, and as with any construction project, we cannot be responsible for hidden site conditions. Per our safety guidelines, our worker stopped and called the office for guidance. You contend that we should have been ready to do the mold remediation, but we are not trained nor licensed for this work. We had no choice but to vacate the work site until the mold was removed. As evident by the backlog of the remediation company, there are a lot of people in the same boat as yourself. We anticipated that you would contact us with the schedule for the remediation and we would come back to finish our work. While it is frustrating when a construction project comes to a halt but it is our responsibility to not risk the health of our workers. It is unfortunate that our communications have broken down to written messages via Yelp. And if there is something we regret about this project, it is that you felt we didnt have your best interest in mind during our time in your home. Because the BBB has begun mediation here, we will not offer any further details or conclusions in this online forum. Hopefully we will both feel better about how this ends, soon.
