My nephew had an issue with his stairs that was causing an issue with the City, and based on the recommendation from a City Inspector, he reached out to *** Meenaghan for the necessary repairs in late October. After visiting other places that had been worked on, my nephew let me know he wanted to go ahead and on October 26, 2023 he contracted with Meenaghan Construction, LLC to repair the porch, stairs and railing for $3,860.00.We paid the deposit the next day and about a week later *** began the work. Over a couple days he completed the concrete work for the porch and stairs, but he did not begin the work on the railings. By mid-November the delay was getting to be too long and my nephew reached out to ***, who finally said on Nov 21st said he was picking up the railings that day and needed another $860 to purchase them. We sent that money, but he never showed up with the railings to do the work.On Nov. 24th, after reaching out again to find out what was the delay, we heard from *** that he would be there the next morning "Gaurenteed". He was not. On Nov 27th we reached out again, and *** said he had decided to order the railing from Amazon because prices at the local stores were too inflated; however, he was unwilling to share the order or tracking number so we could know when to expect the work to be completed. On December 4th my nephew called several times and then texted ***. He finally got an answer from *** that said that he's ************* by Amazon twice on the deliveries but they should arrive by Dec 5th and he would be out the next day to install them. He was not.We have reached out several times to find out what's going on, and he has not responded. At this point I have to believe that he was not telling us the truth on either being at the store to buy the railings, having ordered them from Amazon, or his intent to stand behind his contract.
