Let me start by saying my Orthopedic Doctor is fabulous. But her office was acquired by *** and their ***************************** is atrocious. I have received 5 billing statements all stating that I owe $18, then $34, then I am $34 in arrears and I need to contact the business office. When I do I get a different person from all over the globe who says everything will be taken care of. One time they didn't have my insurance information, one time I was told my bill was in review and it could take up to two years. This last month I had a three-way call with ******, *** business *** and myself. I think after 5 months my account was finally settled. Come On *** Business Office - Do Better !

*I was neglected at this facility while trying to be seen for syncope episodes.* I was one of two people who were admitted in early to the back rooms and was not paid attention to by the doctor nor the staff - and I was there for about 4 hours and received little to no help. * The ******* ***************** kept asking personal questions about me being pregnant/any former pregnancies.* My monitor kept going off while I was in the back room and no one came to check on me. I had to keep calling a nurse in to adjust my monitor and they kept telling me that the monitor provided was broken and thats why it keeps going off. And I have a medical history of asthma. *As I was leaving the hospital, I saw the doctor on duty speaking with another nurse and he looked past me as if I was not there or unimportant - when I was walking out of the emergency room. * I felt unheard, unseen and unimportant. I went in and was admitted to the back because I keep having fainting spells. ** Do not go here if you need medical assistance, unless they do better by their staff and the people they are supposedly trying to help.

Had some testing done with a physician at ****** Jewish/****** facility. Got all the testing done but they will not reveal my abnormal results without an appointment with an uncovered physician. We have sent tons of communications through my chart only to be given a run around. Then today I received a note saying they called me to discuss my abnormal result by phone conversation which isnt true. Worst service ever.

Visited the ****** ************************. Was scheduled to follow up with doctor at BJC ******** *************************South County. Both visits we had outpatient(in office) **ray which my insurance was charged as Hospital charges **ray. After speaking with the billing **** I am told I have to pay hospital fees for the equipment. Outpatient **ray in office is costing me $327 per **ray. I called another outpatient facility and it will cost me $37. That is a drastic difference. On top of that I am being charged a radiologist reading fee but my physician read the **ray in the exam room with me. I spoke with a lady in the office about the charges and she told me yes our fees are ridiculous and I would have my **ray elsewhere.

I have been trying to dispute a coding error on my bill for an EEG that was performed on 10/15/21. Like other patients experience, when trying to resolve a simple mistake, the BJC billing/coding department keeps coming back with, "the correct code was used." It is one number off. They charged my medical insurance at the time for $1900. Leaving me with a $1300 bill after my insurance processed the claim. My provider had the code down correctly, but they, unfortunately, are not the ones who deal with billing for imaging they only charged for reading the imaging report. I have the imaging report in which I had an awake, normal routine EEG that took 20 minutes to complete. Something I know from my years of experience working in the administrative department of healthcare is not supposed to be this high. When I asked for an itemized bill (the collections department did, too) detailing the claim submitted to my insurance, they never honored it.
I have appealed to my insurance twice, but they cannot help because BJC keeps telling them it is the right CPT code. At this point, all I am asking for is that I be provided with the proof that is necessary and clearly explains that they have the right code down if the billing dept. truly believes they are in the right. It has been over a year, and I am still fighting this bill. I am submitting today a release of my medical records, including an itemized billing statement for the date of service, so that I can have the proof on hand to keep fighting this. I am unemployed and a soon-to-be doctoral student with no way of paying this bill.
My experience with the advanced imaging department on the neuro floor of BJC was good. It is the billing situation that has caused undue stress, which is not good for someone like me who has epilepsy. It is sad when even the collections department said, "to keep fighting this until they tell you the truth; they owe that at the least." (I am not in collections now) I know I am not alone in this.
