On 10/1/22 we went to Dirty Deeds St. Louis and asked ****** the owner to work on our 2006 Yamaha YSV 450. He had the bike for 6 months and every couple of weeks he would call us to let new parts that were needed. With each call, ****** said that the specific part would get the bike running again. Towards the end of the 6 months he let us know the bike wasn't running but wasn't sure why. He told us he would drop the bike off on two different occasions, but did not. We had to pick it up ourselves. When we inspected the bike we noticed it was missing bolts and an air filter. We called him and he said he wasn't sure where the parts were and what happened, but he would replace those two parts and ship them to us. He never shipped us the parts. We took it to a different shop for a second opinion, and were told he totally damaged the bike and the bike has to be completely rebuilt.

    Business Response

I own a mobile motorcycle service company and was contacted by an individual named *****. He had recently purchased a four wheeler that became inoperable soon after. There was an appointment booked for a diagnostic that I arrived and completed on site. After a “leak down” test was performed I diagnosed the problem as valve related. We agreed that I would take the vehicle and further investigate the problem. As I completed further tests around 6 hours of labor , and removed the top end of motor. I realized that there was extensive damage, bent and broken valves , severe damage to the head and the piston was damaged ( valve actually imbedded itself in to the surface of the piston) . I took photos of the damage and forwarded them to the client. I then recommended that the piston, head , valves , valve springs , piston rings and valve shims be replaced. Client opted to purchase a used head , new piston , new valves , springs and piston rings. After installing all parts I told the client that the used head was spray painted and could be the issue as to why the bike wouldn’t star. I had over 12 hours in labor and had only charged for 2.5 hours total. He demanded to recover the vehicle after he was told that is wasn’t completely put back together and did so knowingly. After he retrieved the vehicle I was contacted about two screws that were missing and an air filter that I purchased and shipped to him. I am not responsible for used parts not working nor am I obligated financially to replace, fix or refund anything due to contacts agreed upon by client.

The attached text messages show that ***** asked ****** if the used head will work and ****** responded with “looks fine” and “it should be fine.” ****** never brought up issues with the used head. The part we paid for to be installed were not correctly installed and they were damaged and cannot be used. The new shop we took it to for a second opinion stated that the bike had zero oil and all of the new parts we paid for ****** to order were damaged and we would once again need to replace them. There was over $300 in missing misc parts after it was returned (reported and statement by the new certified shop we took four wheeler to). We are asking for the parts that we paid for to be refunded along with the labor.  ****** never once mentioned the bike not being put back together, we would not pick up a pick that wasn’t put back together. ****** offered to bring it back to us twice but made up excuses each time so we offered to come pick it up, he did not bring up any issues when ***** picked the bike up or mentioned it wasn’t put back together. The screws he mentioned were ordered never were shipped to us. You can contact the new shop if a statement is needed. They have all of the details and cannot believe someone would run a business this way.
